META(?): The Epic Threads thread
Not sure if this qualifies as META, but let this thread serve as the thread that people link famous/long/ranty/funny-that-it's over threads.
Example: McFarlin, RR rants/wars, Down In Front(!) wars.
Like last week's "Worst/Craziest Sporting Event Experiences" thread, I need a good laugh.
Or some of your favorite and funniest threads you've posted in.

I mean, have they deleted the actual front page post too?
September 25th, 2013 at 8:39 PM ^
I dunno. I didn't actually see that part go down. I heard that from someone else.

I am curious what this "Chitownblue2" did to get banned. I stopped reading long before that apparently.

Brian and ChiTown have a long history together and basically this was the straw that broke the camels back.
September 25th, 2013 at 2:17 PM ^
"Brian and ChiTown have a long history together ..."
I'm not at liberty to say, but it has something to do with a retirement home, a "favorite nephew" and a missing second-to-pinky-toe on the left foot.

one that i started: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ot-gingers-do-have-souls in this thread i was told that i should kill myself for posting the video (the comments by that user have been removed as he has been banned) so you won't get the fully jist of how crazy this one person got...

I have no recollection of that one, which is an epic win for the MGoCommunity that participated. You f-ers are so damn creative and quick-thinkers!

The thread that created Lloyd Brady. Not sure how to go about finding it though.

I always liked David so its a bummer to see him get banned but I have to say that the ability to simply create a new profile and continue posting really takes the strength out of the banhammer. I guess the only thing a moderator or Brian et al. can hope is that the poster gets the message and tries to be different? I didn't intend this to be a lecture to you, David. Like I said I've appreciated most all of your contributions.
September 25th, 2013 at 4:42 PM ^
Not to get all bromacy, but thanks. I'll try to be less inflammatory (I guess?) but hell, I was never told why I was banned in the first place.
In the end, I really couldn't care less about points. I had to make a new account with my .edu email address and not my gmail account. Okay.
September 25th, 2013 at 1:24 PM ^
Is this a joke? Ok, whatevs if so.
Otherwise, why the eff are you "here"?
September 25th, 2013 at 2:22 PM ^
"Is this a joke?"
I think that is the point. Is this the type of thing to be TAKEN SERIOUSLY or is it a thing to be enjoyed and left to be what it is? Don't all things to be TAKEN SERIOUSLY cease to be fun?
Isn't this a joke?

After all that's gone on, including posts in this thread I don't even understand but do understand that there's underlying themes at play beyond me (which is fine), I didn't think it was a stretch to ask if it was to be taken seriously. Again, I just don't get sh*t sometimes, so.

Remember the time you said "CAW" and "potato salad?" Oh wait, that was like all the time.
Brilliant catchphrases. Absolute genius.

See: the be nice to recruits thread or the comments on the hockey game where Michigan was eliminated from the CCHA tournament
It's a free website. I get annoyed when people tear into Brian (or Brandon or Ace or Heiko, but not usually Heiko) for whatever. Disagreeing is one thing, but someone people are just a-holes to guys who work hard to provide us a free website that is the best source for anything University of Michigan by 50 miles. Just disagree a little nicer por favor
On that note though, the absence of a moderation system has seemingly pushed the crazy posting to a new level. I get the impression that people feel less inhibited to post whatever stuff comes to mind now. Would like to see moderation return one day soon.
September 25th, 2013 at 12:20 PM ^
...Its not like the moderation system is a cure all. I mean a lot of the people that have strong opinons round these parts (some of them no longer with us...*pour a lil out*) had strong karma values and as such had all of their posts viewed by everyone. The moderation button was only good to keep the spammers/obvious troll accounts under control.

Brian briefly mentions moderation in the mega-thread, but for such an important thing, I'm not sure why it hasn't been moved up in priority. The blog is still pretty good, as are the comments, but it needs more policing (self and otherwise).
Regarding comments about the blog's operation, I'm fine with it and think most of the posts on the initial Teryn Savage post and also the mega-thread (though I have read all 500+(!) comments, so I can't vouch for all of them) were also fine even if they "tear into" Brian a bit. Mgoblog not just a stream of useful posts by a handful of folks, it's a community of people, making comments and/or their own (hopefully useful) threads. As such, people feel they have a stake (if not a monetary one, like Brian) in how it operates. If people didn't give a rip, they wouldn't visit as much, which I'm sure is not what Brian wants. I agree they shouldn't be overly personal, and certainly shouldn't have an air of entitlement b/c it is free, but some passion about the topic is fine by me. It shows people care.

the OP's original topic, but I rather enjoyed the "Mckayla Maroney Is NOT Impressed" photoshop thread.
Also liked the one with the GIF of Brady Hoke and all the coaches riding in a Jeep (?) together. I think that may have been around OSU meltdown time, not sure.

Indeed, that was a great one. Only had time to read the first couple of pages (it's bedtime), but looking forward to reading the rest tomorrow. My favorite response was Dex's on the first page. Miss that guy.
Cool of you to post this and take it in stride (I assume...)
