Meta: correct Capitalization of FORUM Topics

Submitted by clown question on

Maybe it is the academic in me, but is there a correct procedure for capitalization of thread titles?

And yes, this is very important.

my vote: Capitalize first word, DENARD, and the first letter of proper nouns. Don't capitalize the first letter of other stuff.

Example:

Brady throws for 300 yards (good)

DENARD rushes for 300 yards (good)

Brady Throws For 300 Yards (ok)

BRADY THROWS FOR 300 YARDS (bad)

Neg Away, I Deserve It.

Are you, in your OP, asking a question meant to be for clowns, from a clown, or about clowns?  Is the word "Clown" being used in a literal or figurative sense? Are you just clowning around, or is it just that you are a clown named "Question?"?  And did I place those question marks properly?

Not only that, but are you the OP or is your post the OP?

The part of me that is a professional writer and has made money doing it bristles somewhat at some of the things mentioned by the OP, but the mod in me bargains with that half and tends to think that as long as the thread titles don't look like this, we're doing OK:

We need to have more things for the anal retentive types to get bent over. There haven't been enough grammar mistakes and double OPs recently for people to jump on. It's important to point out how others aren't commenting on a blog in the correct way.

Forgive me, el Guapo, we know that we do not have your superior intellect and education. But could it be that once again, you are angry at something else, and are looking to take it out on us?

I can only think of the word "plethora" in relation to Three Amigos.

Someone should create a class called Shit you will probably use in day to day life that includes a couple weeks on journalism, accounting, business ettiquette, three branches of government and their purposes, social media 101 and a bunch of other things I'm probably overlooking.

I feel like you could help fix a large portion of humanity and make a bunch of cash at the same time. Then again I'm still paying off my failed "jump to conclusions mat" business, so what the hell do I know.

I wouldn't want to teach it, I'd get people who actually know their fields.

The idea came to me when I was reading the OP and thinking my high school journalism class probably has the best usefulness to time invested ratio of any class I've ever been in, and accounting has to be up there as well.

Edit: Basic statistics as well, can't believe I left that out.
