Meta : App Size

Submitted by NYC Fan on
Can one of you tech savvy guys help explain why the mgoblog app takes up so much space on my iPhone? I went into my settings today and it was the number one offender @ 3GB. Doesn't that seem excessive?

Mine is around 20MBs. It's probably caching every page you've ever opened on it. I would suggest deleting the app and reinstalling.

Do you have the HD app or the other app that hasn't been updated in forever? I just checked and the HD app takes 17.7 mb on my iPhone.

When it comes to app size, I usually like them to whet my appetite but they need to be small enough that I have room for the main course.

Then again, sometimes it's nice to have an app where you can order two of them and call it a meal. I like to do that a lot with buffalo wings.

Honestly I'm not sure why you would use the app at all. Obviously it's your own personal preference but it doesn't seem worth the hassle to me. I only keep it on my phone so that I can see hidden posts by banned users and get a laugh.

I switched to the app on my phone because I don't have to resize it to make it readable, and its a lot quicker.  Also easier to navigate around, just swipe right and you go back a menu...  But then, for the most part, I'm only surfing on my phone when driving - so the easier the better.

(Haa!  My 'driving' consists of copious amounts of time at <25mph...)

On my Samsung Galaxy Note 5, the app itself reads at 17.85 MB in size, and probably because I don't use it that much, I only have 3.24 MB or data stored regarding it. At least on my phone, it is far and away not the largest user of storage, but it is larger than I thought it was, as apps go anyway.

44.7 mb's on my iPhone 6S.  I often close the app and I did so today.  I'm surprised it is that large with little actual usage today.   Question for you Mgo computer engineers.  Why would someone build this app with a temp file that doesn't clear itself out when the app is closed?

I actually switched to the HD version for that exact reason and haven't had any issues since. Just checked still only 25MB the standard version bloated to a few hundred MB or more if I remember correctly.
