META.. Anyone want a betting line and weekly picks thread?

Submitted by Gulo_Gulo on

Maize_in_spartyland used to do betting lines and picks for the week.  I loved his threads and have missed them the last couple of years.  I was considering taking up his banner.  Would anyone appreciate this?

I figure week 3 would be a good time to start since we now have a better understanding of where teams are at.

I do some of this as a hobby. Haven't had the time to get too detailed about my research and reasoning when writing about it, but I have been chronicling it on the interwebs. If anyone is interested, here is my early stages edition: http://alwaysovertheline.blogspot.com/2014/09/college-football-week-2-review.html. I did alright last week, but missed big on the B1G primetime games. I'm starting out light on real analysis, though, so please keep that in mind. Analysis will get more technical as the season goes on.

I'd definitely be willing to contribute in some form or another.

Definitely don't have the time I used to - everything changes when you have a child (especially when a second one is on the way - wife is due in December).

I'm still following the lines a lot - went to Vegas and placed some bets on the first week lines but had more action on the win totals (Michigan was off at the time?).

I would welcome  such a weekly post. I don't bet on games, but I still like to know what Vegas line is early in the week.  Even though the info is available elsewhere, it would be convenient to see it on MGoBlog for Michigan and the other B1G games as well.

These threads were actually fun to break down and for making our own stabs at taking the line or the points and so forth. The discussions used to get rather interesting, as I recall, and it was a neat sidebar to every game week as a fair number of us actually do place the odd bet or two. I would like to see these come back myself.
