Meta: Anyone else get a "change your password" email?

Submitted by M-Wolverine on
Is it legit? Is there some problem, does this happen annually, a side effect of the new 100 points to post set up, other?

Brian says an email might go out for those between 20-100 points, but well, that's not it. I always worry about emails with links. Just making sure it's all MGoOfficial.

I read the main board, and then scrolled to the last post I read earlier in the day, but I didn't landscape in the App, so it just said "Meta: Spartans attempting to...". When I looked, it was obvious this was an unnecessary post.
Though there was no official response there. If it is Sparty, how'd they hack our email? That would be a concern.

They just go here: http://mgoblog.com/user/password and bomb user names. They're not trying to lead us onto some fake phishing site, just flood our emails.

I assume the dummies think the board locks us out until we complete the reset or something. So some Spartan punch all our usernames in and is convinced he forced us all to do a reset to unlock our accounts. All I can say to him is "We're running low on toilet paper in the men's bathroom. Get your ass back to work."

Board posts don't show avatars or point totals? I didn't realize I was "dude"ing somebody who is on the board all the damn time.

Anyway, [if you're not logged in,] the "User Login" box has a "Request new password" link below the username and password fields - looks like you can request a new password by giving the ensuing form either your username or your email address, so Sparty must've seen a lot of your posts and figured you'd have enough points to start thredz n shit. I can't explain what the next step in the plan was, so I guess Sparty is an Underwear Gnome.

I did a "dude'able" thing. And it may or may not show you logged in on the App. I'm watching our Michigan QBs on tv, so I'm mobiling it.

I haven't and won't chance my password...I'm just curious how they got Brian's email bank. I'm not as secretive as some on here, so I don't really care...but as you say, the pointlessness of their master plan does intrigue me.

Duuuude. (Sorry)

Read up to F_A's post. They're just feeding our usernames into Brian's reset program (you can input either a username or an email to trigger it). The reset program knows our emails and just sends them out with nary a thought. It's very Spartan like in that regard.

I didn't get one. I feel left out.

EDIT: I have gotten two so far since posting that! I have great joy knowing that with a simple click of button, I can thwart Sparty's dreams of infiltration.

I've got a really clever trick to catch at least a couple n00bs, but I'm not telling you damn Sparty trolls!!

BTW, has anyone noticed a conspicuous lack of Sparty trolls so far?
