Mens basketball twitter handle warmups

Submitted by ThadMattasagoblin on

Is this going to be a thing now? Why do our warmups say tweet it up? It seems like Dave Brandon cares a ton about little things to make our program look like a glorified minor league baseball team instead of caring about the on field performance of our teams and Al Borges.

If Dave brandon cured cancer Bando Calrissian would be on here bitching about how unorthodox his methods were.

This thread is so appropriate for the state of this site right now.

Some down time?  Nothing to bitch about for a few hours?

Ah, let's turn the wrath to these social media jerseyz!  Curse you Hunter Lochmann!!!!!

I don't say much as you can see, although I have been around for a couple of years and this year is the worst I have ever seen some of the fans react to anything to do with Michigan Football and AD Brandon.  All I see is a bunch of whimpering, "supposed" fans doing nothing but putting down anything to do with the programs, student atheletes, coaches, administrators, you name it, if it can be bitched about you will do it.

I don't see you out there everyday busting your butt for the program like everyone I mentioned does, so why doesn't everyone just maybe grow up and act like you may have gotten an education at UofM and they may have actually taught you something about manners, respect, responsibility, dignity, perseverence and how to grow up.

I would have given anything to attend UofM but there happened to be a war on at the time I got out of school and I ended up going into the service and making a 24 year career out of it and evidently I learned a lot more about growing up and respect than if I would have attened Uof M from the looks of it.

I do not like the way the football program is now either but give the kids a chance to grow up into the type of players the team needs to represent the university and you. I have to say that I don't believe there is anyone on this board that is bitching, that could do a better job at the present.  Hopefully there will be some changes made, but we will have to wait and see.  In the meantime why don't you support the team and the university that you profess to love so much!!!!!!!!  End of sermen!

Don't take the following as a denigration of your service, because it most certainly isn't intended as such.

What you are describing as your desire for the ways fans should act is a description of how someone in the military should act.  The vast majority of us are not, nor have been in the military.  That means that we have not been trained to follow orders.  We have, hopefully, been taught to question and critique.  Those two traits are not something the military covets in its members, but are extremely important in a society such as ours.  While I also did not attend Michigan, I have attended multiple universities, and despite their failings, they all at least pay lip-service to the idea of critical thinking.

What you call whimpering, many of us see as a productive exercise of our cognitive abilities.  Before you critique us for doing so, perhaps you should think about that.

You are of course correct.  But incessant criticism is still possible with critical thinking.  Aside from perhaps the "Fickle" post, nothing on the front page has crossed the line into criticism for the sake of criticism.  It has all been backed up by data and an attempt at explanation.  Even if you count the "Fickle" post as a failure, I don't think that is too bad.  If you had to cover this team in the sort of detail Brian does, don't you think you would have cracked at some point this year?

For the record: A high majority of the people in this thread are not bitching about the warmups.  In fact, there are more people bitching about the bitching.

Hey guys, young kids love twitter if you haven't noticed. So I don't see what the big deal is. Might seem stupid to us old farts but some high school basketball player might think its cool. Get over yourself, it's just a warmup.

So the AD is making marketing decisions based upon the hypothetical preferrences of a high-school kid?  Sounds brilliant.

However, if that is the logic behind doing it, then they screwed it up.  I doubt a bunch of kids are going out of there way to watch Michigan the day after Thanksgiving when they play some MEAC school at 3 PM on BTN.  If they were really doing it for those reasons, wouldn't it have made a hell of a lot more sense to debut the shirts for a nationally televised game?  I think we might have a pretty big one coming up against both Duke & Arizona.

This was an attempt to sell over-priced tickets in the upper bowl of a crappy game.  Nothing more.

The issue to me is that Michigan basketball seems to be at least semi-interested in modernization and using modern marketing tools, a modern offense, etc. to produce and sell a competitive product, while football does not.  But as far as blaming Brando - seems a bit unfair.  I am pretty sure they planned this a few months in advance.

As far a Borges and football - it all seems stuck in the 80s (offensively).  The offense has looked old, predictable.  I was watching Iowa today and thought "man, if Michigan blocked and played even 2/3 as good as the vanilla offense, we'd have 1-2 more wins."  That is a sad thought.  That IOWA has a better coached offense.

Let the kids wear want they want to wear. Some of you guys worry about all the wrong shit. Its no longer 1973 and Bob Knight is not coaching this team. You guys are probably the same ones that despised the Fab Five in the shadows....

Do you really think the kids on the team picked these out?  This was a marketing ploy, as explained by the flyer that was posted earlier in the thread.  This has absolutely nothing to do with individual choice by the student-athletes.  This was the AD trying to make a buck on a non-conference game being played the day after Thanksgiving.
