They haven't made the tournament in 9 years and haven't come close to winning their conference in ages.

The have 4 total tournament wins in the last 40 years.

At least Virginia Tech knows how to catch punt snaps.

I agree with you that the criticism of the basketball team is usually too harsh. However, the comparison to the punt is dumb. When people are critical of the basketball team it’s over a whole seasons worth of work and when you are critical of the football team it was one play.

Our offense was pretty good against Indiana, and against Minnesota our QB got knocked out. Their QB was competing super lucky passes all game. The only games where we really played like garbage were Ohio State and I guess Utah

I'm sure they have and I actually think buzz Williams is a good coach but, like you said, they're still not good. Do we really think a non-conference schedule of VT, two of Pitt/Marquette/SMU, UCLA, Cincinnati and cupcakes is that much better than the non-conference slate that almost kept us out of the tournament last year?

The point is, we've counted on this to be a better game usually. The non conference games we schedule generally suck, hence our terrible RPI last year even with what are usually enough wins to easily make the tourney.

So let me guess, msu will play Boston College.

Instead of at Duke or at North Carolina which they continue to avoid.

Didn't even have to get Duke or UNC. Plenty of better ACC teams that we should have earned. Hosting someone like Pitt would have been perfect this season.

I know Va Tech isn't a big draw but they will be much better this year. They did rather well in the ACC last year and most people think they will be a tourney team next season.

A Notre Dame rematch would have been better. Actually, any damn team in that conference (including Clemson and BC) would have been better. The other Virginia team I hear is decent. They too were unavailable?
