I have to work 12 hour shifts Sat, Sun, and Mon. I'll take a posbang as consolation. Happy weekend all.
alternate headline: man does job
I have to work 12 hour shifts Sat, Sun, and Mon. I'll take a posbang as consolation. Happy weekend all.
Same here, I'm on my Wed-Sat midnight shifts (5-5), and for some reason (which I'm regretting now) took an OT for Sunday night. Oh well, still off Mon & Tues to enjoy what's left of the holiday weekend
I cheaped out and bought a Big Steel Keg instead of a ceramic Kamodo/BigGreenEgg.
But am picking up a brisket for memorial day (trimming the cap, but I like some of the cap intact to autobaste), salt/pepper/garlic/MSG rub.
If I am feeling better and the weather holds up, will day trip out to Dewey Beach, DE Sunday, finishing off at the Dogfishhead Tavern in Rehoboth. Probably will not be getting the 120 Minute IPA though..
This one is a Vision Kamado and not a Green Egg (although very similar). This one is a solid Kamado and priced really well at Costco! Man, being from Texas and having lived in Ann Arbor I used to grill with gas and charcoal. Once I got one of these, NEVER AGAIN. I've done a picnic, pork shoulder, brisket, steaks, beer can chicken, vegetables and it all comes out incredible. Make room for one of these you won't regret it. Happy grilling friend.
90 minute IPA and I was thoroughly impressed! great beer from a great beer company...also I agree with your method of trimming a brisket...gotta leave a little fat on!
I shaved my beard into a moustache yesterday and wore it to work. Mostly because my boss is away for Memorial weekend already, and my job title is not 80's Porn Star. It was the most fantastic day of work ever. I just squinted my eyes and nodded my head at everyone who walked by.
That is awesome but rookie mistake. Playoff beard for the Wings/Softball is more important than porn stache.
True. Luckily, I do not get the NHL playoffs here so I have no way of tainting the Red Wings run. I just read the recaps on the blog.
Side note, how big of a fuck up is Bettman that playoff hockey, the only thing that comes close to rivaling the passion of college football, is not broadcast nationally? He needs to go away.
You would fit in really well with the moustachioed Hollywood hipster scene.
I looked more like a Oklahoman sheriff than an ironic surfer. I'm like a fish in water in LA traffic, though. The dicier, the better.
I will be watching the Wings at 8pm et on Saturday... and hopefully not watching them on Monday!!!!
Am working 12 hour shifts this weekend, and I'm on nights. Happy Memorial Day to everyone, be safe.
Bought the supplies for tacos and caribou lou out of cups made of pineapples at the pool a few days ago, and now that looks like a dumb decision. OTOH tacos and liquor are rarely a bad combination, and I've always wanted to drink something out of a pineapple.
It was everything I hoped and dreamed it could be. Also, I forgot how strong caribou lou was; should be in for a good night.
ONLY ONE MORE HOUR OF WORK UNTIL FREEDOM!!!
One more hour, then it's vacation time for the next week.
I am about to declare "leaving at 1:00 PM, not taking any vacation time, fire me if you need to" all over these fools.
has that WTF are these kids doing around half smile look going, stinking hilarious!
I work all weekend, 10 hours each day.
German beer and cuisine for the CL final tomorrow, and (hopefully) a Wings win in the evening. CANT WAIT </bartscott>
Bayern or Dortmund?
Want Bayern to win, but without Goetze, Dortmund's midfield will be a speedbump for Bayern's attack.
They have played pissed the entire season after losing to Chelsea @ Allianz last year.
I can't stand Bayern and I have a buddy who we'll all be watching with who is a huge BVB fan.
That said, I'm pulling for Bayern.
I don't mind Bayern, but I can't stand Robben. The only plus side is that watching him run makes me laugh.
No beer, but will be watching CL Final. Detroit's own Gus Johnson will be doing the game.
Opinions divided on Gus' work as a soccer commentator, but that's a topic for another day.
If anyone (everyone) is interested TomVH just put up an article over at ESPN where he talks with Naughty by Nature about Jabrill. Interesting stuff.
49 minutes and counting...
One more time 'Moleskyn'...had to make it a little bigger
I am going to make this posbang useful. If anybody would like to offer me brief counsel on how to embed videos on this site I am all ears.
ADIOS SUCKASSSSSSSSSSSS. TIME TO BOUNCE
Then drinking a beer or two in rememberance. Semper Fi.
It's senior skip day yet I'm here working hard and achieving academic exellence.
My senior skip day was a academic study of how alcohol affects your tolerance for rides at Cedar Point.
my daughter and son-in-law. Will be a great weekend regardless of everything else.
Parents are making the trip down from MI, looking forward to spending sometime with them. Doing my first psuedo seafood boil on Monday (I have an infared deep fryer).
Also, thinking about picking up some Gator meat and trying that out, any tips on how to prepare it MgoChefs?
Panko bread the fish. It is awesome.
I be fishin. Gon catch me some channel cats. Dats good eatin
Best friend and college housemate came out from LA, hadnt seen him in a year. Got him at 6am, smoked a bowl, had Angelo's, slept, smoked a lot more, had quickie burger, drank a lot, Wings game at Charley's, then mash, then Rick's obvi.
Vintage day right there
Crash and recover from long week > yard work while the kids play > waiting for Peppers
It's the ONLY way to spend memorial day weekend. Unless you're like.... not into Detroit music... and then... well... we can't be friends.
EDC Chicago has a better lineup.
There aren't any festivals out there I'd be willing to pay crazy money for.
Goin fishing this weekend. Can't Wait.
Senior skip day for my school
I've got daddy duty all day Saturday with our four month old. Then I'm contemplating brewing a UofM ale using flaked maize and Victory Malt in an ESB or cream ale. Any input from other brewers?
Wow. Are those things you mentioned real?
BBQ's and walking in a Memorial Day parade with my fellow Veterans.
Semper Fi former military brother.
You too, MGOTyrone.
@OP So what your telling me is that it isn't freezing yet, I am good with that.
I'm spending the weekend living out of a hotel room in Albuquerque. At least the weather is great.
hello to Mr. White and Jessie for me.
I'm working a 24 hour shift today and Sunday. Tomorrow I will be chillin' & grillin', followed by some shitty beer at the local pub.
Workin from 2:30 to 11 today and 10:00 am to 12:00 am Saturday then going to the Indy 500 like I've done every year since I was 5 sitting in turn 4 and hopefully this is Andretti's year and stopping at Granite City on the way back
Today I have a half day at work so I'm outta here in 45 minutes. I'll be home on my xbox this afternoon shooting zombies in L4D or L4D2, if anyone wants to join me my xbox live account is the same as my MGoUsername, MikeCohodes.
This afternoon happyhour hitting up a bar with my wife and her coworkers, she's a school counselor and the staff is getting together for a celebration of the end of the year.
Saturday or Sunday we're going to ditch our mgobaby with my wife's parents and go to the movies to catch the new Star Trek.
Monday I'll fire up the grill for the first time this year despite the cold and grill some steaks, wash it down with some Two Brothers Dog Days now that their summer ale is back, and I'll write up a review of Star Trek for my blog.
Thanks to all who have served or have a relative who have served in our armed forces, thank you for your sacrifices that allow us to have the freedoms we have. Have a great and safe Memorial Day weekend everyone!
Camping out all weekend at the track and heading to the 500 on Sunday. I'm excited for beer and white trash boobies!!!
Taking it nice and easy. Beach, brews, golf, couch. Got a nice little long weekend planned. Hope everyone else enjoys theirs.
For my fiancé's cousin's wedding in Orlando. Figuring out where to watch both the Champions League final (big Bayern supporter) and the Wings game Saturday. Suggestions?
Graffiti Junktion is a good spot to catch games. There are a couple locations around town, but the one in Thorton Park (downtown) is the best. Harry Buffalo downtown is another good place.
wings and tigers win! still feeling the effects of a few too many last night!
Grad School crap for me. Enjoy your coolers and grills gents but remember, "safety first then teamwork."
Sorry to hear that, I got laid off back in December. I feel lucky to have found a job fairly quickly.
And hanging out with a hot blonde that wants to go swimming. Hot blonde or steak dinners and parents who want to buy me stuff?
Both man! Three day weekend, plenty of time to get both in
It may be the off season but these threads are tired as fuck.
That would assume you get a "buzz" from adding to a thread on the internet?
Your life <<<<
That surrounds a community garden project in Detroit on Sunday.
Today. Watch it.
A couple of mini Sparty juggalos seem intent on spoiling the weekend by WALKING ALL OVER MY LAWN. I hope they get poison ivy. No Internet or cable, so no way to keep up with M softball. I'll be looking here for updates.
I hope all my fellow wolverine fans have a great long weekend. Everybody be sure to drink too much and sleep too little. Have a good one!
Playoff game with my four year old tonight! On the glass for $35 apiece. Not bad.
After work heading to the homestead and mixing a large cocktail. Mow the lawn and take care of some other medium sized tasks. Then, I will take it easy in preparation for bangin' weekend of little responsibility and great debauchery. First, I will chill with a movie this evening, but have not picked one out yet. I want a new release that is action/thriller style. Any suggestions?
Heading up to the cottage with the whole gang. Cramming 20+ people in and setting up the docks and bringing out the boat. Weather will not deter me from a weekend ski. Is it just me or does Memorial Weekend often tease you with sub par weather Friday - Sunday and a nice day on Monday as you're heading home?
know man. How far up are you going? My parents are going to their cabin in Onaway this weekend and morning temps are literally going to be at or near freezing. Not trying to go Buzz Killington but jet skiing this weekend might be a dicey venture.
I have to work but Im ready for the Wings to close it up. That would make a great weekend
Got a wedding to go to Saturday in the foothills of the Smokies. Should be nice. Great weather today in Knoxville.
My 8 year old son's soccer tournament in holland. Mini vacation for the fam. Don't forget take a moment and pause to remember what this weekend is really about.
I was gonna start a Drinkin' All Day thread - it's definitely that kind of day as I have some chicken marinating since this morning waiting for the grill and some homework to do at a very leisurely pace. Which in turn has led me to take note of my alcohol stores and count up four bottles of Oberon and two near-empty bottles, one of Glenfiddich and one Sailor Jerry's. I will not need a personal stock tomorrow as it's a race day (sailing) and that means Other People's Beer. I'm thinking therefore that most of what I have left needs to disappear today so I have an excuse to replenish the supplies this weekend. Which leaves me with only one question: Which should I pour myself to kick-start the day: the scotch or the rum?
Going to the lake tomorrow, even though it will be cool outside and then golfing Sunday.
Grilling, garage sales, etc. Tonight I'll be playing Skyrim with my 8 yr old daughter . . . she made me promise her that she could do all the "killing".
Helping someone move...what did I get myself into?? There better be "Daddy Sodas" awaiting me at the end of this!!!
The best way to combine honoring our fallen veterans with outdoor partying, bonfires, hard drinking, etc: 'MURICAN METAL! \m/
a possible Peppers to Michigan announcement
Philadelphia tomorrow for the lacrosse Final Four. Otherwise, yard work, bbq and beer.
God bless our troops! Best wishes to my best friend Mike. He is going on his first tour to Afghanistan in october.
Heading over to Grand Haven, MI, with some friends and family for a weekend of beer drinking and (hopefully) boating. After two very long weeks the long weekend is more than welcome! Wish it would get a bit warmer so we could boat and go to the beach, but I will take what I can get!
Waiting not so patiently for a "Hello: Jabrill Peppers" post.
Flying to Tampa tonight so that I can drive mom and her two cats back to MI for the summer/fall. Just hoping to get back early enough Sunday night to erase it from my memory. Golf on the holiday - weather and level of hangover permitting.
this weekend. Skydiving on Saturday and hiking Shenandoah NP with the gf Sunday-Monday.
My weekend actually started today - we took the kids to Jungle Java in Canton and then to McDonalds for a lunch and some further play. We thought they would pass out, but they are now in the backyard playing. All the same, it was a fun outing.
Tonight, tomorrow and Sunday will basically be all about grilling, sports and the odd drink, interspersed with various visitors to the house to help me eat all the food I plan on making. There will, of course, be the Jabrill Peppers announcement on Sunday, so that is also part of the gathering then.
My wife actually works on Memorial Day, so I may take the kids to the neighborhood park, assuming they have mowed it and it is no longer the mosquito-laden meadow that it typically is. Otherwise, we'll just hang out at the metropark and I'll make them some hot dogs for dinner.
Moved back home for the summer and got my old job back at Sears. I will be working all weekend. At least I got a morning shift Saturday, so I can catch the Wings game.
Great way to start the weekend, Sanchez has a no hitter after 6 innings. Tigers winning 5-0.
