Meeting up at Gator Bowl

Submitted by Florida Blue on

Hello fellow Mgobloggers.  I live in Tampa Florida and am going to drive up to Jacksonville for the game.  I will not get there until around 11 or 12 that day but wondered if anyone on here was going to be there and has any idea where they may be setting up to tailgate.  I really don't know much about Jacksonville but didn't know if anyone on here did and might want to meet up prior.  Always good to meet fellow fans.  If anyone is interested in meeting up and has a good place to meet let me know and we can exchange info.

Also heading up from Tampa.  I will be in Lot H...FYI most lots are now full excpet lot V which is quite a hike to the field. I am sure there are other lots available, just not for pre-purchase via the Gator Bowl site.

My wife and I were actually thinking of getting a rolling cooler and hoofing it over to the stadium from the hotel.  Or grabbing a cab over if hoofing it is too far.  We could come meet up and talk Michigan football and drink up prior if you are interested.  We can make our way over to lot H and find you guys if you tell me what to look for.  Plus it is always nice to meet fellow Wolverines that live in Tampa.

I would imagine that we will be there around 930/10 and are meeting some friends from the Daytona area.  I also have not purchased a parking pass yet and wonder if it is necessary or if I am going to be one of the dumb ones for not getting one yet.

My wife and I plus my brother and his girlfriend will be there too and we are in the same boat as you Florida Blue.  Our hotel is about 8 miles away and we are not renting a car so we will probably get a cooler and a cab and just come hang out somewhere.  We bought "The Patch" to get into the Bud Light tailgaiting area so I definitely want to check that out but if anyone is going to set up shop somewhere and woulod like some company just let me know......... and that whole seriial killer thing is way in the past,  I'm so over it!  On a side not.  Will they be serving beer in the stadium during the game?  This is my first bowl game and since it was a nuetral field I was wondering if they would be or not.

Anyone know any good bars in the area for New Year's Eve? Preferably 18+ and not too skeezy as I'll probably be with my dad and sister in addition to however many friends make it down for the game.

I am not sure about any bars but did see when I was looking for places to eat today that there was a Dave & Busters there.  That place is awesome,  Something for everyone to do, a lot of televisions for sports, table games as well as arcade,  and they serve alcohol as well.  You will probably have a hard time finding an actual  "bar" to go to that will allow 18 yr olds in on New Years Eve.

I have a parking pass in Lot SS, but would definitely be interested in a meet up as its just me and the fiancee heading down. I also plan on bringing down some good home brew with me for tailgating.

It looks like lot ss is still for sale.. I might go ahead and get this spot too, seems like there will be a few from here parking there plus an easy in - easy out compared to some of the others.

when looking on there, I just noticed that you have to be there the day before now to pick them up - to bad they dont have an email option.  Maybe there will be room when we get there or someones yard it is.
