Meet up before UVA game?

Submitted by maineandblue on

Hey mgobloggers,

I'm going to the game tomorrow (first UM bball game in >10 yrs!) and am wondering whether anyone wants to meet up to have a quick drink or two before the game. We're driving in from Harrisonburg and should be able to get there by 5:45ish. Doesn't leave much time, but would be cool to briefly meet and hang with some UM fans.

I don't know the area by the arena too well, so if anyone has any recommendations for a good place to get a drink and bite to eat nearby, please let us know!

Edit: Argh, sorry, meant to make this a board post and not a diary. Super busy day at work and wanted to get this up quick...my bad. Mods, can it be moved?

A few of us are coming from DC - we're planning on picking up a case of beer and some food and hanging out over by the UMAA-DC tailgate.  Last I heard they sold out all their tickets - so there should be a pretty good group of Michigan fans/alumni there

Hmmm...interesting idea. I could be down with bringing some beer and food to a tailgate area. How does one find the UMAA-DC tailgate? I've never been to/parked at that arena before...is it just one big parking lot? Any idea what time those folks are showing up?

I am a former grad student/employee of JMU, now living in Fredericksburg. I'll be heading to the game and will begin camping out at Buffalo Wild Wings on Arlington just off of Emmett St at about 3 pm. I'll be there with someone who still works at JMU but roots for UVa. Oh well. Meet up and have a beverage. GO BLUE!!

i live in arlington va and have been thinking about going.  i fear that if i stay in this state my children will have to go to uva since it's a good school and in state tuition, but fuck sake last thing i want is my kids to be "wahoos."  the "wahoo" nickname uva gives itself is arguably the dumbest, most annoying nickname in history.  It's a cold, slimy fish with no redeeming value, and was originally a derisive nickname given uva by washington & lee fans, yet somehow uva embraced this put down... unreal.  kind of like if we suddenly started embracing scUM...  so retarded.  not sure why it bothers me so much but it does.  every time i hear 'go hoos!' i want to smash a puppy.

go blue kill the hoos.
