We've done relatively well holding teams to field goals after their long marches down the field instead of touchdowns (5th in scoring but 9th in yards). Is this a sign that we've been lucky and its likely to get worse or do we have a good red zone (bend but don't break) defense? Western had two drives deep in M territory with a missed field goal and a drop on 4th and 1 in the end zone. Indiana kicked 4 field goals from inside the 15 and missed 1 more and proved once again that being 5/6 in the red zone can be a problem. I am worried that better teams are going to turn these into 6s instead of 3s.

I don't think GERG's strategy is to let 'em into the red zone and then hold 'em to field goals. Football is partly luck, and sometimes teams beat themselves. Many of those FGs could quite easily have been TDs. Of course, the opposite is true: turn a couple of plays around, and Michigan could be 2-2 right now, instead of 4-0.

Your link shows this. Also, smoph, Scoring I believe only has to do with the putting points up not limiting the other team. Total Defense 89 385.75 Scoring Defense 58 22.75
