Does that mean Delaney has already placed to order to inscribe UM's name on next season's B1G trophy?  Or do they have to wait for the ink to dry on the fax, before they do that?

I'm actually not trying to rain on any parade.  I think that is now the expectation, isn't it.  Anything less than a B1G championship, and probably at least one F4, will be considered a failure.  We'll all say things like, oh well it was just one guy, team still building to the future, etc etc... but we're all thinking the same thing.  WE ARE BACK IN THE BIG TIME.  Move over, Sparty (er, GET THE F.... OFF MY....).

Disagree strongly that its a "failure" if we dont make a Final Four in MM's one year here. The NCAA Tournament is way too crazy to ever be 100% positive that you're going to make a FF.

Last year #1 overall seed bounced in the Sweet Sixteen (OSU).

Year before that #1 overall seed Kansas bounced in the 2nd round.

The John Wall + Demarcus Cousins team from a couple years ago also didnt make a Final Four and that team was more talented than Michigan will be even with the stellar recruits coming in.

The point about MM coming here is that the Final Four is now a POSSIBILITY, which is all you can hope for. If we make the elite 8 and get bounced out of the tournament I'll be disappointed, but I wouldn't consider MM's year here to be a failure.

While I would expect the team to do well, I don't think tying expectations of Big Ten Championships and Final Fours to successes or failures is a good way to look at it at all.

The teams hould be good, but it's more fun for me to say they should be good and then enjoy their successes as they come rather than set an arbitrary line in order to celebrate their accomplishments.

Yeah, saying 2012 must be both a B1G championship and a Final Four is a bit much.  This is a great class, the class before them was good and the guys who will be juinors in 2012 (Hardaway, Morgan, Metrics, Horford) are also very solid players.  We'll be both talented and deep in 2012 and a Final Four isn't out of the question, but I wouldn't say that anything short of it is a failure.

I think the expectation is that we should be able to compete with all  of our opponents.  In other words, there shouldn't be a situation come 2012 where we step out onto a court and it's clear we don't belong.   If we take advantage of this, while B1G championships and impressive NCAA tourney finishes shouldn't necessarily be the expectation, they could very well follow.

However, one player (especially one unproven on a college level) shouldn't have to be catalyst for this mindset, as it should be what we aim for all year, every year, regardless of personnel.

I'm worried you might have read too much into my post...Dude asked for a connection (yeah jokingly) and then just to be a smartass I gave him one.

Full disclosure:  I think there's a strong possibility Burke could be one of our best players this year.

Sorry, couldn't find a more recent de-commit article...?

I'll try harder next time.

Well, a signed LOI does not preclude him from declaring for the NBA Draft this year (if he's still eligible).  But it seems like he has his mind set on at least one year of college.

Does anyone know where the post discussing Chad Ford/Mitch McGary not being one and done went?  I didn't read it earlier, and I'm curious what everyone thought about it/reasons why he thought this.  No explanation in the Mod Action thread.  Any reasons?
