McGary & GRIII Gifs From Last Night

Submitted by Ace on

With a big tip o' the cap to MGoVideo for posting highlights—and even the full game stream—from last night, here are a couple gifs from the NMU game.

First up, Mitch McGary's two-handed jam on the break:

And here's Glenn Robinson III finishing an alley-oop from Tim Hardaway Jr.:

Yeah, last night went pretty well.

I love that GRIII rocks the knee pads.  I seem to remember some other guy named Glenn who played at Michigan back in the day and wore knee pads back as well . . .

Chin guard also recommended to protect from rim encounters.   He has mad hops.

I also love the knee pads.   I always thought they made Glen Rice look deceivingly slow, thus giving the defender a false sense of security.  I dunno...maybe he was slow, but he got that silky smooth jumper off over most every defender.

As my name suggests, my favorite player in Michigan Bball history is Glen Rice.  He wasn't the fastest most athletic guy, but he could shoot with anybody that ever played the game.  It didn't hurt that he was 6'9 and could shoot the rock like that.  From 93-98, he was a virtually unstoppable scoring machine in the NBA, and still holds an all star record.  His record for most  points in a tournament will probably never be broken, and was by far the best player on the 89 team, which is my favorite team in Michigan History.  You guys can have the fab five all day long, I'll take the 89 team any day of the week.

Jalen then Rice in terms of my favorites.  Loved Rice grown up as a child.  Nik Stauskas may end up being a similar type of shooter - way way premature, I know.  But just for conversation purposes, the way he can catch the ball anywhere and shoot the ball at the top of his jump shot has reminded me of Rice.  Some inches shorter, so he'll be a different player, but I've felt for some time that Stauskas might end up being the most valuable player in this recruiting class - I can see him staying for four years and racking up a ton of points.  Check out his youtube videos about his preparation: dribbling and shooting.  My son has started to copy his basketball practice routine.  I see some of the same personal dedication to be the best he can be that I saw in Trey Burke's youtube videos.

My god man!  I know that it is a bit redundant, but what the hell are those shorts?  The jerseys are too busy, the shorts are just, god I don't even know the word for them.  I thought that the pictures of the shorts that I saw before the season were like a prank, like the Spartan Tailgate mock up of what State's pro-combats were going to look like.  I never thought we were actually going to rock those shorts!!  I know, I know, the team is going to be good and this should not be a big deal, but our shorts were fine last year.

Can we all get over the damn uniforms? It doesnt have any relivance to the teams ability to play at all. Until they change the teams colors or football helmets quit the bitching.

I realize Michigan is known for having some of the most scruitizing fans in college athletics but I am honeslt beginning to get angry with the number of people who are more concerned with the least important aspect of the game than they are with anything else. Get over it.

Neg away all you OCD uniform crazies.

You guys broke my internet!

Didn't see the game, but looks like the team is the type of super-athletic squad that runs over most of college basketball these years.  Fun to see.
