Stream anybody? Limited posting going to prevent it?
MBB Vs Wisconsin Open Thread
Please win, I need a positive.
anyone who can find a stream and post it would be extremely helpful
If you have sopcast, there's a stream up from myp2p:
What's really going to suck is my computer batter is running low and I left the wall charger at work!!! Argghh, not a good day!
Where you making computer pancakes?
what is sopcast?
p2p streaming software
We could really use a road win. Saw two different brackets this week that have us either in the first 4 out or the second 4 out. And we all could use some decent news around AA.
is it safe?
Gus is announcing this game. This is awesome.
I remember when he announced my high school pep rally a couple years ago. Classic.
and what HS was this, because I'm going to pull a Billy Madison and go there.
Jordan Morgan and Derek Erving (basketball walk-on)
U of D Jesuit
It seems as if Harbaugh has a 4 year deal in place. Details being worked out. In San Fran of course.
This is a happy thread, thanks.
how about a win for rich rod tonight
Is this game on BTN? I'm too lazy to go to my TV and find out.
Any streams that don't require downloading software? Anyone? Buehler?
darius out of the game already???
If my ESPN Gamecast interpretation skills are on par, I think he got an early offensive foul
I want something to make me smile! Please win michigan. Unleash your inner butterfly on the pesky badgers Morris!
Edit: Morris isn't in the game. GOD WHY?!
At the worst it will lessen my snarl.
I liked that he went to the bball games. Hope he does better elsewhere, but not much better. Deal me up some patterson please.
Seems quiet for the Kohl center...
Has Wisconsin resumed class yet?
I wish they'd develop Sopcast, StreamTorrent, etc. for Macs :(
What a shot!!!
Wheres the butterfly?
6-6 a few minutes in
Any potential links for a Mac? Justin.tv?
Finally something to take my mind off things.
Hot start for Timmy Jr.
Still trying to find out what's up with him?
Where is Morris?
D-Mo got an early offensive foul, hence why Novak is in
Called for a charge early. No sighting since.
A win here would be magnificent!
Hardaway playing niceeeeee. and they said morris got called for charging early and got benched.
Tough basket by Morgan there. Nice to see.
"you know he's only a freshman...but he has the gene's..." Hardaway looks good on the offensive end so far tonight!
Jordan Morgan is going to have a great career here. I really like that guy.
He has soft hands and smooth feet. And he's just got a knack for the ball. Should be a great career for him at Michigan!
No doubt. Imagine what a couple years of beef and maturation will do for him. He'll be very good as a junior and senior.
hopefully this game goes better than those in the past at wisconsin
Thats was a great play inside by morgan, fighting through a near triple team. If wisconsin keeps that up should open up the perimeter.
So it's Jon Leuer vs. Tim Hardaway Jr.?
Morris is in and I think it was his airball.
how can I stream big ten network on a mac?
Does Coach Beilien know anything about football?
blitzing safety, 3 corners, 1 safety left deep?
Not sure, but Coach Beilein might.
Jesus, Leuer is a beast.
Wisky looking uncharacteristicly sloppy tonight. Need to take advantage and no scoring slumps.
morris 2nd foul already - 7:40 left in 1st
Leuer is an animal. However, we look pretty smooth early on. High effort on defense. Let's go boys!
Anyone have any news about the kid from Miami that might be transferring. He played HS a Detroit Country Day and is looking back to transfer back to some place close to home.
That looked pretty floppity there, officials.
Rise and fire! Got it.
Zack Noooovak with a threeeeee point-her
damn you Crisler PA guy.
great transition bucket by NOOOOOOOOOVAK!!!
We're playing fine without him. Overrated?
Does the NCAA require every team to have a super-large logo at midcourt? (For the visually impaired, I imagine.)
Novak 3! M 20-14
#5 evans for wisky looks like he just stepped out of a "fresh prince of bel air" episode with that hairdo
apparently the high top fade is back
Agreed there's some definite 90's action there.
I am really impressed by Morgan so far I am loving the aggressiveness, they are having trouble denying him in the post
It's nice to see your team perform admirably!
our defense is really playing well. Attacking the ball nicely.
Can Gus Johnson coach football? He is a bad ass and could recruit like a mad man.
Could we be better than we think we are?
Too soon. Shhh.
release his inner Denny Green...
A win is definitely plausible still. A for effort so far.
That would be a charge! How did they not come up with that loose ball, ugh. Looked like Arkansas trying to cover up that fumble.
other than the early morris fouls, first half is going better than i could have ever expected.
stu and novak with solid play, as usual
hardaway and smo playing really well
if only horford and morgan could just hit a couple of those shots down low
This team seems more fluid on offense without manny harris, just something i've noticed this year.
They seem to spread it around more and let everyone put in contributions instead of just trying to run it through Manny. Of course having varied and legit size this year is helping matters, too.
But they also look better prepared to do their roles too. All that half without Morris and they rest of the team filled in very nicely! Coach B is earning his money so far this season.
Edit: OR NOT
Without Morris? You would have taken my money on that bet.
Or was that a fast half of basketball?
Yeah, it was. Only 11 fouls between the two teams and 3 trips to the free throw line. Not much stoppage in play.
28-26 at the half, I'll take it. Now let's pray they keep it up next half and that Beilein makes better adjustments than Ryan.
if you had bet that we would have led at the half in Wiscy, you would have taken my mortgage payment. Still another full half to go, but impressive nevertheless.
We've actually taken them down to the wire in Madison three or four years in a row. We just haven't finished.
Why would you think that would be such a good bet?
Michigan was winning by 2 at the half in '09 and 3 at the half in '10 at the Kohl Center
Lost both by 6 and 5 points, however. Michigan has played well in this building under Beilein.
Thanks for reminding me about that whole OMG WE DON"T HAZ A COACH thing.
I'm sure they were happy to be of service!
We have taken the crowd completely out of the game. Are their students on break?
by the magnificence of Michigan Basketball! :)
Was that interview only on M radio? (Listening to the audio broadcast via computer.)
What was the line he ended that interview with? Something about racing down the floor to score or something like that. haha.
I forgot what he said. Except for "Go Blue."
And then the announcers had to remind us of WIsconsin's statistics coming back after being down at the half.
I think it was "racing down the floor to explore and score."
The guy has a way with words. I've said this before, but I also love the way he always ends the halftime interview with an emphatic "Go Blue!"
Holy smokes, that PSU game was sparsely attended. That was like a women's game crowd.
I know we all hate Herbstreit, and he hasn't exactly proven to be Miss Cleo in the past, but this free Rivals article is interesting:
OK, not that interesting, but another opinion on the matter, at least.
Yeah, I didn't really post that because Herbstreit said it, more because I just hope he's right.
Just give it up, man. At least if you do, you'll be pleasantly surprised if he flips back.
But, in reality, I think it's over.
Plus, its basketball season!
who our next coach is a death wish for that.
I think that Herbstreit will be shocked when this whole thing is resolved.
There is an uncanny resemblence between Bo Ryan and their mascot, the badger. He is a scary looking man....
I'm happy Gus Johnson is doing this game. Go go Gus!
This would be a pretty huge win. How many Big Ten wins will it take to get to the tourney? 9? We have 6 against Iowa, PSU and Indiana. If we can win all six, and pull out three against the rest, that would do it. Or four against the rest, to make up for the one we drop against the bottom three.
I would have to think that we need at least one win over a ranked team on the road, and a win like tonight on the road plus not dropping any "bad" games to Iowa, Indiana, Penn St., or Northwestern. Beating Kansas, who has not looked all that great would also be a HUGE step.
We go above .500 and we're in.
What about .500 even? 9-9 in Big Ten play.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Is there anything dumber than the "airball" chant??
Especially when they're still chanting it at a guy like 15 minutes after he shot it?
The current, um, process situation rings a bell.
Doin' the bull-dance. Feeling' the flow. Workin' it. Workin' it.
What was with that horrible camera angle ? They should retire it for the rest of the game
I remember it from watching high school basketball on local tv when I was in, um, high school.
Big Ten home refs are in full force. Bullshit charge on Douglas.
A brutal charge call....a sudden barrage of Wisconsin 3's....this is starting to remind me of every other game in the Kohl Center
Need to keep scoring baskets. I sense a horrible drought approaching.
Coach B's rotation seems odd tonight. I think he is still upset with Morris.
Christ, these guys are drilling the 3s
and by the way, is Bo Ryan the crypt keeper?
Or Wisconsin can just make every 3 they take.
That might be the whitest student section I've ever seen.
Have you seen Purdue's? At least Wisconsin's includes some girls.
At least there are some Asian students at Purdue.
geez .... c'mon miss a shot - unbelievable shooting
Go Blue !
is I hear all the cheers and get excited. Then I remember it's an away game.
Well, Wisconsin is hot.
and so is your mom.
I hope you guys are both dudes, NTTAWWT.
I'd like to see us break harder to the basket after setting picks. I think that's open.
they need to wear a sports bra ...
Go Blue !
Wisconsin misses a lay-up, Novak nails the 3. That could have been curtains.
Is flipping out about the reffing.
This team lacks the ability to get a stop when they need it. Need to work on moving their feet.
I guess we're not calling over-the-back today
definitely having a night to forget
I see online that Morgan is only 1-2 for the night. Has he been shutdown by the Wisconsin interior D? Sorry, I have no BTN and a mac.
FWIW - you can do sopcast on mac. You just need something like Crossover, Wine, etc.
jesus. have they missed a 3?
And they make us look like puppies chasing a ball when they pass it around like they do.
well the first half was positive
Not much you can do if Wisconsin isn't going to miss any 3's.
Nice to see that our 3-point shooting has picked up, but we've got to find other ways to score.
damn, we get a good defensive play by deflecting the lob and it lands right in Bill Walton's hands.
They keep fighting and playing hard to the end. They've yanked 5 points off that 9 point lead. Come on Blue!!!
All I can think of is "Man, I can't wait until these guys are a couple of years older." They're already impressing me by keeping it close at Wisky.
Honestly I would've taken being only 6 down with 7 minutes to play. We're still in this.
let's lay off the touch fouls.
No wonder it's so hard to win at the Kohl... you've gotta take on 5 Badgers and 3 refs.
Hardaway is becoming a black hole and Douglass always finds a way to take a bad shot at an inopportune time.
off the ball only happens on Wiscy's offensive end. Of course, Michigan settling for trey after trye really takes away much of the opportunity for contact in the lane.
And, refs, two Wiscy guys just ran through to Blue guys on their way to retrieve a ball...
and Smotryz, but it's kinda nuts how quickly they gun from outside. They catch and shoot almost immediately nearly every time they come in off the bench, usually with a guy in their face
I didn't think there could possibly be a more annoying PA guy than ours at Crisler, but Wisconsin's found him.
For the first time in awhile, the offense got really bogged down when Morris was dribbling all over the court. When he was out in the 1st half, the offense had a good rhythm to it, with good passing and good cuts.
I know he is going to carry and run the team, but tonight he dribbled too much; Wiscy has a very good man with excellent help principles.
But when your opponent can't miss...
ok... we're 4 years in to Beilein's tenure and ..... this is starting to look a lot like Tommy Amaker's stint. I keep hearing how young we are and wait until these guys are older. I will be honest I have watched a lot of basketball and I don't see this team competing for an NCAA bid this year or next. They lack an ability to play shut down defense, shooting will come and go, but you have to be able to get stops, kind of like football.
I think you may be doing what psychiatrists call "projecting."
John Beilein is not Rich Rodriguez.
I would take RR in year 4 over Beilein's year 4 every day. This team will struggle to make the NIT.
Have you watched any games this year? There defense is actually quite good. If these younger guys mature well, who knows. They could be real good.
easy to play defense when your opponent is overmatched. Beilein's defense has continually struggled in Big ten play.... and we are in year 4.
he was surprised or caught off guard by how "physical" the league is after losing games that should have been wins. C'mon, 3rd year here and surprised by the toughness. I think we are in for disappointment. He tries to win OOC games get at least a .500 in conference make it to the ncaa tourney, not building a team to win in the B10.
why is it acceptable that 10 wins was the expectation in year 4 of Beilein's tenure? And who have they beat outside of Clemson and Oakland?
Brundidge will put this team over the top? Call me skeptical. If Beilein can't win next year, and by win I mean a winning record in the big ten and an NCAA berth, then he should be shown the exit. I don't understand why we are so patient with basketball, and so unbelievably impatient with football. Basketball did have as much if not more tradition than MSU up until Izzo.
funds most athletic departments.
Football pays the bills.
If you haven't noticed, the Big House is kind of a nice place and the Glick practice facility is kind of awesome too. The basketball team has had to deal with the hole that is Crisler and absolutely no practice facility for years now. Its kinda hard to recruit when your facilities suck worse than just about everyone else at your level. Now that the player development center is being built, the team is young and actually has post players, and new recruits are coming in the future is only positive.
I don't like their offense, as they simply run to spots without setting screens and rely entirely way too much on the 3, but they do play defense. They run their offense 30 feet from the basket for the first :20 of the shot clock
They are in the top 20 in scoring defense right now. Their length is an issue and little help in the post will be a problem in the B1G.
NIT this year, but if you recall, they have already been to the dance in JB's tenure.
if you recall TA would have taken a team to the dance in his second year, but they were on probation.
Amaker's second year, at 17-13, had a slight chance of getting into the NCAA tourney (you could cite his 10-6 record in the B1G but you have no basis for them making the NCAA). Maybe the NIT.
His best year, record-wise, was his 3rd year and they won the NIT.
Lots of under achieving there. NIT 3 of 6 years.
That team had a terrible RPI. It would have never gotten in.
how a team that returns every player and adds two top 100 freshman will improve very much either. Yeah, no improvement in these guys.... /s
Seriously, are you being purposefully ignorant? How much better could their D have been to this point, considering the age of the team? Even if their defense WAS bad, all these young players will develop on that end of the floor too.
Ok guy you go and take the worst facilities in the big ten and find a better coach than beilein to take this team forward. I'll let you know when things are acceptable.
The man had an a great, tournament year, followed by an off year, followed by a total revamp of the program, and now we're back on the up and up.
Whoa full-court press. Don't see that very often. Wisconsin looked pretty surprised too!
this team is a year away, i don't think they lose anybody of note and they look like a cohesive team.
We literally don't lose anyone.
NIT this year most likely.
My recurrent selfish post. I live in NYC. And I only need to see them live this year and will be more than willing to allow them to go elsewhere for future post-seasons.
We've gotten the best three point shooting from each of our last four opponents, I wish we could get a team on their off game for once
Believe it or not Harvard is good. This team is in the right direction. Wisconsin is 59-1 recently at the Kohl Center versus unranked opponents.
This team is awesome. Smo, Hardaway, Morgan, Horford, and Mclimans are FRESHMEN. Morris and Vogrich are SOPHOMORES along with Dumars who we haven't even seen yet. Douglass and Novak, Juniors. People actually want to transfer to Michigan. Getting a big PF from Miami (FL) to transfer over.
Players can transfer IN to Michigan as well as OUT? Amazing! Plus when we finish that Player Development Center for next year things should really get rolling.
As I noted in a post above, that Miami player (Donnavan Kirk) seems to have eliminated Michigan and is down to DePaul, Oakland, and CMU.
I can see DePaul. Living in the heart of Chicago is cool. But the other 2 schools?? Michigan can't beat them out for a player?
that UM even wanted Kirk. He would make 7 players (out of 13 available schollies) in our class of 2014. Having that many scholarships in one class is not a good thing, and Kirk isn't talented enough to risk it.
