MBB vs, Wisconsin 2nd Half Open Thread

Submitted by San Diego Mick on

I created this thread for 2 reasons, a more entertaining half hopefully, especially for Michigan and to divide up the traffic from the other thread.

We should be leading by more, let's hope we can beat this team down, Go Blue!

i hate wisconsin

i cannot believe how badly we played today. we are just not mentally tough.

at least we are going to get some rest.

the team is going to really have to look at themselves in the mirror this week as they prepare for the tourney.

This team has zero basketball intelligence. It's unbelievable. As much as I love Trey, he needs to stop with the heroball the entire game. It's nice that he pulled us close there, but for the love of god run the offense. They just cannot maintain a run either. It seems that the moment they find out what's working offensively, they immediately change their style again. Also, practice FTs. Please.

Time to accept reality. Michigan is the 5th best team in the Big Ten, not the 5th best team in the country. Trey Burke is the best player in the country, and he's the only thing seperating Michigan from being a .500 Big Ten team. I love Michigan Baskteball, but my expectations have dropped off the table for this team. I just hope we make the Sweet 16.

should have been up 20 in the first half if they just hit their open looks.

this team will be bounced in the second round, just like last year.  that game was vomit to watch.

i hate you bo ryan, and all you stand for.  quit basketball and go run a communist country and do all basketball fans a favor.

bo ryan is the void.

...but he is on point with "Robinson and Hardaway are too talented to stand in the corner" and Beiein getting sucked into "high ball screen best player...that may make it easy for him but it doesn't necessarily make it easy for the other guys."

That is exactly the problem, and it isn't going to be easy to fix in the little time that's left.

Hold a team to 17% shooting in the 1st half only to be up by 3 at the break, especially with multiple chances to go up 10 near halftime, only to launch unnecessary shots and give Wisconsin a chance to close the gap... oh, and hit your free throws!

Dissapointed in the results the latter part of the year. Seems that the team has been unable to improve or figure out an effective identity, unlike in some of the previous years.

Other big ten teams move forward as the season grows older, Beliens teams seem to move backwards. I don't see Michigan ever being relevant under this coach

What a joke.  That game should have been over at halftime.  Instead, they find a way to lose to inferior competition in classic Michigan football/basketball fashion.  Playing down to the competition is my #1 grip with Michigan sports.  Keeping teams hanging around is a recipe for disaster.

Your #1 gripe with Michigan sports? As if Michigan student-athletes owe you anything?

The players are more pissed and upset than we are.  Be disappointed, but geez it's a game.  And why was it inferior talent?

The only reason we were ever ranked high is because we rattled off 16 to start the year and were the last undefeated.  We may have talent, but we never were a great basketball team.  Stauskas and THJ are great shooters, but they are very limited. McGary is raw, Robinson raw. Burke is great, but other than THJ we have a lot of young talent.  That's it.  Enjoy the wins and support the team no matter what.

I'm sorry for what I wrote upthread. I should have thought more carefully before I wrote it. I am genuinely concerned about the team's chances in the NCAAs, but I could have stated that much better than I did. I've been following this team nearly all of my life, so I'm not a fair-weather fan at all. Nevertheless, I shouldn't have made that comment.
