Better 7 hrs early than a minute late.
Better 7 hrs early than a minute late.
Have you guys found a stream of the game? apparently the ISP I work for isn't on the "ESPN 3 list" and I can't find it on justin.tv. I'm settling for ESPN gamecast atm..
If you have an xbox360 you can watch on there.
Unfortunately, if your ISP doesn't support ESPN3 on your computer, it won't support it for your Xbox either. (At least, that is how it's been for me.)
LOL, i was thinking of the women's game tonight.
for espn3.com for me. It was sweet. Gotta love this new internet thingy. Someone said there are naked girls too?
I can't find the game on TV. What station is it on?
it isn't on TV
Yet Indiana vs. SIU Edwardsville is being featured on the Big Ten Network. Funny how that works out.
What's even worse is that the SIU-E/IU game is a replay from last nite.
Why in the world is our game not being televised?!
home for the holidays and the ISP here is not one that subscribes to ESPN3. I checked ATDHE.net, but there was not a link for the game. Anywhere else to stream? Thanks.
That's not gonna help those whose ISP does not subscribe to ESPN3. Unfortunately I haven't yet found an alternative stream...
I hope I don't jinx myself with this, but I just put my provider as Comcast and the stream is working for me. Good Luck. Go Blue!!
Does not bode well for Michigan... a couple no calls already down low. Need to continue to rebound well which has been good so far
Fun game, good start for both teams.
MIchigan ended up favored by 4 or 4.5 depending on the site
(I know, a big IF) this should be a back and forth game all day
what does everyone think of the shoes? They look different than the ones they usually wear.
Didn't know Michigan kids use shoelaces.
I don't think it's in that big white guys best interest to start a fight with Morgan
So, the B10 Network shows a replay from last night
And Fox Sports DETROIT at 1 pm is showing the UCF/Miami Florida hoops game
Sounds about right
I'm not sure a grown man should be calling stu douglass stewie. That sounded a little forced
How is the crowd at Crisler?
Are finals over and thus most of the students gone home? I know this matchup doesn't exactly make ticket sales easy, but I'd like to think other local fans would come out.
Nobody has scored more than 65 points against MICH this year
MIdway through the first, Oakland on pace for 52 points
Pace maintained...OU finishes with 51.
Sweet Vogrich three-pointer!
they have not overlooked this game....that is a good sign
I have a feeling Horford is going to be real good in a year or two.
Look like a suburban CYO team out there, I'm not saying bad quality of play it's just somthing about there appearance.
I know its supposed to be the forte of coach's teams but I cringe when our team is on a fast break and tosses up the distance shots when we could get something near the basket...
Have you seen what happens when most of our players try for a transition layup in the past 3 years?
I'd much rather have them settle by the 3-point line.
3 points is more than 2?
Does anyone know what kind of shoes we're wearing? They look amazing.
When did MICH become Duke? I swear I've never seen a Wolverine team take so many charges and offensive fouls.
has always coached that.
Keith Benson is a game changer in the paint. Dude is gonna get drafted relatively high. Wish we would have recruited him.
that will cost them in the tournament too
hehehe there's not a score for either team in the active window for the game tracker. BIG TEN BASKETBALL!
i actually would prefer that guy that calls darius morris the butterfly 100x a game to have the call over these espn3.com guys
Does that take into account all the "baby blue" comments though?
Metrics would have 16 right now if he didn't wear an undershirt.
Jordan Morgan has exceeded all my expectations. He's not only skilled but he plays with emotion...
Hardaway sure hasn't been shooting well most of this season. I wish he would take it in for something shorter to jump start his game. Just heaving threes is a tough way to get it going.
A lot of people seem to think that stepping closer to the basket makes a shot easier. That's not necessarily so. Moving closer can give the defense a better chance to challenge a shot. And intermediate shots can often be harder than three-pointers, especially when the shooter is on the move and has to pull up.
For someone like Hardaway, who has three-point range, I think a wide-open 20 footer, shot in rhythm and off a good pass, is an easier shot that a 12-15 footer, off the dribble, after a pump fake -- especially when the 20 footer is from the corner and the pull up is along the baseline.
Is dropping his hand to the right on his follow through instead of pointing at the basket. This different than during the early games when he was shooting better. If he can work from the inside out it may help fix things.
Is it weird that I love Vogrich's yelling face?
I think it should be clear by now that the people asking for links don't have access to espn3
If they have access to the Internet, I'm not sure why they couldn't get espn3
Not all ISP's have access to ESPN3. Mine doesn't.
I see, my mistake.
Unless you know a way to bypass it, people can only use it if their ISP pays ESPN money for the service. There are some significant providers (like Qwest, which I have), which do not do this.
True, however it should also be clear that if someone had a link it would have been posted by now.
Since I saw it I've been googling for a good picture. All I can find is:
I am really impressed with our defense so far this year. We have some decent height down low but alot of it lacks bulk. We seem to be holding our own regardless. (except for Rocco a few weeks ago)
on that last possesion and no foul call. Then a bad foul call against Morgan in which the announcers said something like "look at Ted Valentine getting into the act with that energetic foul call." What a joke Valentine is.
Michigan up 29-21 at the half.
I'll take it. We've looked a little ugly at times, but they've looked uglier. 8 point lead gives us some space to work moving into the second half.
A decent half, but they have to come out strong in the second half....Refs letting the game get very physical...
Bacari Alexander on the radio, halftime:
"We're gonna be the hammer, not the nail!"
"We're not going to let them out of the club without checking their ID!"
My favorite part of the radio broadcasts is Bacari Alexander's halftime chat with David Merritt. I particularly like the way he ends each one with an emphatic "Go Blue!"
we are out-rebounding them 20-17 and winning by 8 all while shooting only 25% from 3 point range.
Who's the hot redhead Michigan Cheerleader that was shown following the last commercial break before halftime, right on the end of the row?
Her name's Joanna.
If that is indeed Joanna Sampson, the face doesn't look the same. Too bad there's no photos of her bod on the mgoblue website. I'd be able to tell for sure, then.
Well this just got weird.
Your girlfriend is hot and makes me happy. So congrats for you.
No, I'm not pretending to be the knowledge. Just pointing out that this is the first ESPN3.com game I've seen. I suspect I'll be watching many more. The technology is really getting there. There are some glitches and missed seconds, but overall not bad. And any time you get to hear Tim McCormick, it's a good day.
Streamed game+HDMI+42" plasma= Great Success!!!!
Anyone have some insight for the three bowls today? I need to fill out my picks..
I went with BYU, Northern Illinois, and Troy broski
BYU is going to trounce UTEP.
I'm going with BYU, Fresno St. and Ohio. Although Pat Hill does not have a great record in Bowls against non-AQ schools, I think Fresno gets it done today. NIU lost their coach and Fresno's defense seems a little better.
Mich holding Oakland to .59 point per possession that half, which is a ridiculous number considering Oakland's offense has been pretty good so far this year.
And 1984 NIT Champion!!
I know we've all said this a million times in the last couple years, but if we could just make a damn 3, we'd be an excellent team. 33% shooting would give us an 11 point lead, 40% would have us up 14. So frustrating, yet tantalizing.
the what-if game.
I play it all the time though, and it appears Michigan always seems to be losing in that regard.
In other news, I'm seriously sitting on ESPN's website and watching the box score for the game. I have no effing idea what's happening on the court but methinks it's going well if we take an 8 point lead to the locker room.
Better than nothing and you can pretend you are in the 1930's with the audio only game experience... except for the internet part.
This is a lot better than nothing. Thank you!
Is any one watching on an "internet-enabled" TV? If so, is it worth it? What brand is the best? etc.
Most impressive stat for me is the 21pts, regardless of how it was achieved. That is impressive. Have to keep holding them down and it won't be easy.
Woo-hoo! Smotrycz with a 3
Excellent start to the 2nd half! 36-21, Blue!
put up 5 quick points.
Slow second half starts are killer.
7 quick points to start the second half....36-21
Oooh Baby BABY!
I always forget how fun this team is to watch when they're on.
their play flows better, their passing seems better, their defense is A LOT better. As long as they hit shots, they could give teams fits this season...
Exactly what was needed to start the half...impressive by Beilein
it's that he's not sure what he's doing. The guy always seems to understand what's going on on the court and how to fix/improve it. It's just a matter of getting the players to execute.
I'm not ripping on Amaker because everyone has different strengths, but this kind of bench coaching was not Tommy's. We now have a coaching advantage during games.
I remember watcing some of Amaker's squads go through the entire game doing the exact same thing even when it wasn't working at all. I think he was more of a gameplan guy. He'd come up with a pregame strategy, and that was it hell or high water. Worked sometimes, sometimes didn't.
i don't think he knows what bench coaching is. i just remember sitting on the bench each game chewing his gum. rarely got up to do or say anything. never ever even got on the refs at all.
so glad he's gone.
Wow Morris has really developed his outside shot this year.
for this game: someone has to go at Benson and get him into more foul trouble....
for the season: I just think he will not be able to stay out of foul trouble this season which will really cost them with so many good big men in the big ten
Hardaway with a 3-pt dagger
This is what sports commentators call "killer instinct," I think. Haven't seen that around these parts in quite some time.
This team is really fun to watch.
Also, as a side note, I'm becoming a fan of ESPN3.com. It still needs some work but is light years ahead of watching a stream on justin.tv or those other sites.
"Michigan came on in the second half like Gangbusters"
Any chance we crack the top 25 before we get into Big Ten play? With this win today and a probable win again Bryant, we wil be sitting at 10-2 going into a home game against Purdue. I realize that we really havn't beaten anyone thus far, but 10-2 is still a nice start. Thoughts?
MSU is only 7-3 and they're 15th, but I don't know if we'll have the reputation to get ranked even with our record.
MSU is only 7-3, but look at the teams they have lost to. Different situtation than UM at 10-2
How did Oakland get the ball on that? It looked like Morris bounded the ball off an OU player's shoe.
he'll be able to hold onto more rebounds.
Oh noes, Morris limping a teensy bit. How soon do the "He'll never last through the B10 season" rumors start?
Bizarre jockey metaphor...
Quick summary anyone? Is our defense playing that well or have they missed some makeable shots? Any individual heroes?
They've shot dismally, but a lot of it is because we're forcing them into some tough shots. Some open threes haven't gone down for them though.
This is really upsetting that espn3 on my xbox is showing a 26 point blowout instead of my wolverines!
You can select what game you want to watch, it doesnt lock you into a specific game.
Oakland is 4-16 in the second half.
Novak needs to stop leaving his feet without knowing what he's going to do with the ball. He's turned it over at least 3 times doing that today.
found it!!! :-)
Sagarin's Predictor has Oakland #36 nationally, Michigan #50. Hopefully we can hang on here for a really nice win for the program. GO BLUE!
But it would be if we could make layups
We've looked so good today. Gotta finish those easy layups and put backs and put em away. Free throws too
They're really struggling against the press.
I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot more press in the future after this game since they haven't shown they can turn it into easy buckets. Pretty much need Stu and Morris out there when the other team is pressing since we just don't have many other great ballhandlers.
Okay JB, regroup and finish this out
flaskback with the old school cell
Have the calls been this bad all game???
Would have liked to see Novak drive the basket there
hate to see defecits get cut like that. Let's pull out the 'W'.
If we can work the whole shot clock that's better than a make. Even if we don't score.
four minutes left we either need some stops or to score a basket or two. Just running out the shot clock may not win this game.
How did we miss that?
Struggling to finish but didn't expect Oakland to go easily - remember they beat Tennessee.
We'll get this done
"And it has him feeling... blue."
"Keith Benson is going to wake up in a cold sweat tonight, and all he's going to see in maize."
And it's making him blue. ESPN3 doesn't really attract peak announcing talent.
That was sick.
That this is better than most of the teams way better than us have played Oakland this year (Tenn, MSU, Pitt, etc)
maybe those teams aren't way better than us
what a pass by morris WOW
I like this team.
Novak. 11 points, 11 boards, 4 assists as of right now.
God damn! This team is impressing me right now. They are fun to watch.
Guys looked great today- solid game for these young men!! just over a minute left
By transitivity we're better than Tennessee! Woo!!!
mid major in 4 days.
They fell 49-48 to Charlotte.
Hey! I got an uncle that's a transitivity!
"Drew Benson is going to wake up seeing maize... And hes going to be feeling blue"
Worst comment I have ever heard a commentator make. Are they seriously paid for this?
GOOD GAME BLUE!
Wow, Morris is a great ballhandler.
and she didn't say that.
Darius Freakin Morris
That pass was ridiculous.
I was listening to the audio stream and the announcer was amazed by the pass. It better be on ESPN or B10 network highlights, because I need to see that pass now.
I'm sure it'll be up somewhere. He rifled a fastball in to Douglass under the basket from out past the 3pt line. Passes like that always scare me because the recipient isn't even on the screen when it's thrown.
those online ballots that played The Victors?
Good win there.
novak 13 pts, 12 reb
morris 18 pts, 5 assists
morgan 5 pts, 11 rebounds
off the bench:
douglass 7 pts, 3 rebounds
horford 4 pts, 6 rebounds
These guys are playing with lots of confidence! Great win, keep it up!
Morris is a great player, Good quality win over Oakland
These guys are looking like they are playing with confidence.
Way to finish strong!
The defense is so much improved.
Good closure even when things got a 'bit shaky for a minute. Awesome victory, keep it up BLUE.
HUGE game for this young team! They were up big but they had the composure to hold off the Oakland run in those last minutes and come away with the W... great confidence builder going into the B10 season.. Go Blue!
It has been a long time since I had so much fun watching MBB on a consistant basis. They hustle and play the game the right way.
All of my Sparty co-workers were telling me that Michigan was gonna get pounded today. We have our company x-mas party tonight. I am going to enjoy this.
Ask them how they thought Izzo's replacement coached today, considering, you know, that Izzo was suspended.
We just held the 19th ranked team in points per game (averaging 80.5) to 29.5 below their average, and 12 below their previous season low.
Hey a reminder:
For just $15 you can get: ticket to Bryant (12/23), ticket to Purdue (12/28), ticket to Penn State (1/2), and a Maize Rage t-shirt. All for just $15! I just bought a pair - go check out MGoBlue and help fill the house during the holidays.
Michigan is a basketball school now
Listened to the game on the radio. Sounded like a great game. Would have been nice to see it.
I was worried about this game after watching Oakland against the Vols.
looked great today, i'm just wondering how his scrawny frame will hold up in B10 play
Took UM 16 games to get their 9th win last year. This team is gonig to be good.
I can't wait to see where we are in 4 weeks. I don't think we're going to struggle to make the NIT. We may even get a big dance invite. They refuse to pack it in when things get tough and that will get them far even in the big 10.
I was wondering when the first NCAA tournament comment would come. Congrats!
So what do I win? I have to give a speech. Let's see. You like me, You really like me...
Seriously. This team has heart. If they can snatch a couple tough big 10 wins and beat the lower teams, then why not a dance invite? Aren't the wide eye dreamy thoughts of winning it all fun?
I know MSU had Magic Johnson, but I think Darius "the Magician" Morris is appropriate.
He coaches them up big. Wonder if he can coach defense on a football team...
Just saw in the stats that Oakland attempted 31, 3's. Holy crap that's a lot.
is supreme, especially considering how young it is. Those boys from the ACC are gonna be POed when they see what we've done to their beautiful game, what with all this defensive stuff.
We doubled and tripled down on Benson and dared OU to beat us from deep, though we did rotate and close out on shooters well.
Reggie Hamilton went 6/14 from three, and the rest of Oakland's team 0/17.
Beilein knows what he's doing. Benson only took 8 shots and finished with 11 points after going for 26 pts / 11 boards vs. Tennessee. Our defense locked him down and the rest of Oakland's squad couldn't carry the load.
A great win. Very impressed by this team, and definitely think they have exceeded expectations so far. An outside chance at the NCAA tournament is there if they get some breaks.
Had a great defensive gameplan today. Benson was frustrated all game and never got into a groove. Its nice to have big guys that can bang down low if need be. Novak had a great game rebounding, defensively and cleaning up at the end
it's good to see the unselfish, know your role, play out there! The D is really spectacular!
What a great thing to wake up to
I like this team better.
I haven't followed the team that cosely yet but this is another impressive win. Are people changing their expectations for the Big Ten season based on the non-conference performance?
this was a big win for us. Oakland is a solid team who will probably win the Summit League and make the NCAA Tournament. I love the way our young guys play together. Really impressed with Morris (the Denard Robinson of the basketball team in terms of offseason improvement), John Beilein's coaching ability, and our low post defense against Benson.

Now where are all the people who questioned coach B's contract extension?
M-Wolverine is napping, please do not disturb.
Count me as impressed with that win. Oakland will more than likely be a tournament team and that was a convincing win. I like what Beilein is doing and I'm very impressed with the improvement of Morris. Good things are coming...
on D. They pretty much took Benson out of his element and forced Oakland's lowest scoring game of the year. The only negative take away from that game was all of the transition buckets they missed right under the net. I think I counted about 3-4.
The NCAA Tournament has gone from being a pipe dream to a possibility. A .500 record in conference - can we do it?
Michigan was 10-2 going into conference play in 2008, and (providing we get a win over Bryant), it appears Michigan has a shot at going 10-2 preconference again this year.
In 2008, Michigan notched 2 wins over Top 5 teams (UCLA, Duke). One of their losses was to Maryland (by 5) and the other to then No. 10 Duke.
This year, Michigan has a 3 point loss to 'Cuse and laid an egg against UTEP.
Even if Michigan can somehow manage No. 3 Kansas, I just don't see 9-9 in conference play working, unless there's some upsets (Purdue, Mich State, Ohio State, Illinois, Wisconsin, etc.) on the way.
True, but I believe the Big Ten is stronger this year (or at least, it seems so) than it was then. I think our RPI/SoS will be sufficient for us to get a nod if we can go 9-9. We'll see.
(FWIW, that UCLA team we beat i'n '08-'09 was in the top 5 at the time we played them, but ended up more like top 20-25.)
The Big Ten is much deeper this year than in 08'.
USC took KU to the wire today and we have much more depth and talent than USC...GO BLUE!!
Very impressive performance! Horford's frame, though lanky, gives him leverage to play some great defense, and his overall decision-making ability has improved, as has our defense.
Darius is going to be a special player, and Morgan and Smotrcyz look like they're beginning to blossom.
The B-ball team is only going to get better......
future is bright indeed
... dosent look so good for oakland now, since UT lost to another mid-major last night.
we're spreading the ball around. I would much rather have everyone on the team averaging near 10 points than 2 players averaging 30 because if they're off, you're toast.
And not good tasty toast.
it was great to see this team in person. I thing the future is very bright.
I apologize if this is in the thread somewhere, but does anyone know if this game is going to be shown on BTN/elsewhere as a replay?
