When Northwestern actually had a short chubby Asian kid on the roster, back when they were playing the Fab Five in garbage time, and even the Michigan guys were cheering him to make a basket just because he looked so out of place out there.

<br>Safe to say, Amaker Harvard player he was not.

thats why pick and roll D is so tough against a team that spaces the floor so well.

1 Horford's hedge wasn't good enough making the pass easy

2 Hardaway didn't 'lock and trail' on the ball handler - he has to bust his ass to get back in front of him so Horford can recover to his guy.

3 D Morris had to help earlier on the roll man.. but was worried about leaving his guy for 3.

4 Another way of helping could have came from Novak pinching down on the ball handler which wouldve required less help from Horford -  but when he is guarding Shurna he can't help off.  A stretch 4 is so so valuable in a PnR offense.

I think the best thing would be for Zach to 'stunt and recover' where he jumps out on the ballhandler to encourage the pass and already be recovering by the time its thrown.  But really this action is probably the hardest to defend in basketball.  That's why every NBA team runs it and IF the floor is properly spaced (harder to do in college w/ the closer 3pt line), college teams can be lethal with it as well.  Almost every dunk we get is from Jo Mo off the pick and roll.

But they will get better.  Maybe.  If JB can keep his players from transferring.  And play some defense.  I don't know, he's just not a Michigan Man coach.  He's no Fisher.  I think JB should have gradually installed his offense to best suit Amaker's skill players.  It won't work in the BigTen.

we'll go on a nice little run, make it competitive, maybe even take a lead somewhere around the 9 minute mark.

Then gag like a cormorant with a 3# herring, and lose by 9.

Prove me wrong.

Assembly Hall.

Looks like we'll have some wins at home against the weak 2-4 teams, a couple of oh-so-close losses at home against decent foes, but not much good will likely happen on the road.

Our soft preseason schedule skewed expectations, i fear.

This offense is just not the answer

Morgan is soft as Charmin inside offensively, don't even let me talk about Horford

I don't care how young they are !

Like i said, get a quality big man, get some scoring inside , only way Coach B's offense is worth a daam

So, let me get this straight: you are complaining about a freshman and a redshirt freshman who was hurt all of last year for being "soft inside?"

I don't know if you have noticed or not, but unless you have TSIO money or your name is John Calipari,  you can't just walk up to the "quality big man" tree and pick someone who will dominate as a freshman.  Do you think JB has just been sitting around with his thumb up his ass, saying "we don't need big men, let's just recruit 'tweeners" and that he isn't out there recruiting just as hard as anyone else is?

Most of us would have been satisfied with a .500 season before this one began.  Maybe some of us should be a little more paitent with a very young team.  The great thing about young teams is that they get older all on their own.  And when they do, they have a lot of experience from having had to start early.

I won't tell anyone what to do, but maybe you would be happier if you just relaxed a little bit and tried to enjoy the growing process of some kids that may eventually do their school proud.

Or, you can just continue to whine.  Whatever.

He has the ugliest shot that I have ever seen.  Almost like Shawn Marion's, yet somehow they always go in.  He also looks like he has no athletic ability at all, but he is torching us.   So far in the Big Ten this year he hasn't done shit.  What happened to our good defense the last two games!?
