When I was down there in the ruckus there was a guy who dressed up like a rat during the Duke game. We were behind Duke's bench, so there's a pretty obvious explanation there. I think it's pretty recent. There's always been Tommy's Troops/Beilein's Brigade/Bunch. I think it's the last two years that have brought out the costumes, perhaps spurred by Smotzrycz's Lobtrzyczs.

The Bees have always been there. I put on a rainsuit/poncho each game and wave a Canadian flag, for Stauskas making it rain threes, but the panda and pooh were new. The elves were some guys I know, it was a one-off Christmas thing.
Personally, I think costumes are great, but only if they're maize, just to stick with the theme. We've got some stuff planned though....
EDIT: Some other random costumes that make appearances: Chewbacca, chicken suits (yellow so I'm fine with that), a stormtrooper (one of them paints their helmet like a Michigan winged helmet, pretty cool), Tellytubbies (no), stuff like that.
