MBB v Minnesota Open Thread
...disaster,
Tim needs more work on his handle, if I was a big ten guard I'd attempt to steal from him anytime he takes more than two or three dribbles. I will at least say he shot really well in the first half carrying the team.
I said that was the magic #
...I can breathe east.
80 pts wins a lot of games no matter where you are.
If you breathe west I hear more oxygen gets in the lunges.
Beilein has literally never lost at Michigan when his team's scored 80 (he's something like 28-0), so you weren't going out on a limb there.
Georgia Tech fan tonight...
Austin Hollins has played the game of his life.
K guise who wants to shoot two next?
...be so good at offensive rebounds? I know they are the best in the nation, but hot damn!
Locked for the mods.
What was that chant?
IT IS COLD! IT IS COLD!
Can just dunk his free throws
On their return trip to Crisler.
Oh, wait.....
The crowd is ridiculous. "Boooo!! You called a foul on us." 30 seconds later--"boo!!! You didn't call a foul on us!" Whine whine whine.
I'm flattered at all the Georgia Tech attention but it's Big Ten time now!
Nice to have a week off after two really physical games.
Normally it isn't a good idea to foul the losing team as the clock winds down. Unless you are playing Minnasota...
...not matter how we won, we went on the road and beat the #9 team in the country. Period. End of discussion.
This is how great teams respond after tough losses... Great game.
The gophers cant buy a freethrow.
If I were Tubby Smith tomorrow's practice would be running five miles and then shooting free throws for three straight hours.
You're not
If you were Tubby Smith, you'd have a sweet ass mustache.
This Minn. team is tough. M survied an absolute battle and the game was never inside of 7. This team is really good.
Go Blue!
Good, tough road win. Great to bounce back after the loss to OSU.
Another really good win on the resume. Way to bounce back Blue
For curious minds, the fouls at the end of the game read:
MICHIGAN: 19
MINNESOTA: 21
How many of those were Minnesota fouling at the end though?
I think 4.
I'm not sure what we did... we seemed to foul them a bit at the end too, so it's maybe not quite as impressive as it seems, but I just remember possession after possession where everybody fouled.
83 - 75 the forces of heaven is your final from "The Barn."
As Johnny Drama would pronounce....VICTORRRYYYYYYYY
Nice tough win. Withstood the Minny run.
I take a perverse glee in delaying the viewing of Duke.
I was so close to guessing the score and winning stuff with 84 - 76. Nevertheless, I'm glad Michigan got the win.
My 81-77 is better....the total score is right with mine!
this is hands down the best Minn team in 30 years and we beat them by 8 at the barn. never within 7 in the 2nd half.
After a tough loss on Sunday....We march into Gopher Land and completely out-class them on their home floor in a must-win for them. Impressive to say the least. I really expect us to run the table until the Indiana game. That game at Assembly Hall will be absolutely monstrous...but then again every game is huge in this conference. Great coaching job by Belien tonight and terrific performances by Spike Caris and McGary off of the bench. That type of bench production in a hostile road environment speaks volumes as to the ceiling of this club. Michigan could legitimately win another Big Ten title and ....gasp....a National Title. Haven't been able to say that since the early 90's and it feels great!
they look like crap tonight but they will be ready for us in their house...
I don't think our team can afford to overlook anyone... even though we can play with anyone...
jdon
Great way to bounce back with a win on the road. Go Blue!
Or just be thankful we don't play mbakwe or Williams again. Dude jumps out of the gym
Great teams find a way to respond after a tough loss, and that's exactly what Michigan did tonight. Played the #8 team in the country on the road and came up with a big road win to right the ship and keep the momentum going. Hardaway, Burke and Robinson all had great games tonight. The GRIII dunk will be allowed top 10 tomorrow.
That was fun! I kept waiting for Minnesota to go on a huge run. I did not expect our transition game to be that dominant tonight. Little sloppy at the end but they held on.
This was pretty huge not just because the Gophers were so highly ranked but because they don't make the return trip to Crisler this year.
Pretty amazing how we couldn't win at the barn for 16 years, even against shitty Gopher teams, and now we've won 4 in a row there.
As far as I remember, that was our 4th straight win at The Barn.
edit: beaten to the punch
we played solid on the road at a top ten teams home court.
This win was sooooo important
Minny will win many games this year, and any win against the top half of the conference is a good one. Kiddies were much better this evening than at OSU, so chalk one up for "gaiing from experience." Also matched them fairly well physically, and they are likely as tough as anyone in the country in that regard. Would like a close-out when they started to press, but I guess that's one of the bennies of getting up by 15+.
Huge, huge win. Games like these, when contenders win on each others' courts, are what will decide the conference title. Now we've gotten two of the toughest road trips out of the way already.
The 360!
I was just about to search for this on YouTube.
Then again, I probably could have just waited until the SC top ten.
Ace, when you gif that, can you please include the salute?
Goodnight to all that complain about Morgan this and Burke that. Great game that wasn't very close. Go Blue
