Great F****** EFFORT guys.

Walton you are a warrior - looks like he is 60% out there.

We don't do moral victories but damn we are playing backcourts at times with Spike + Dakich.  Play like this the rest of the way and we can do some damage.

Very proud.

UM bench outscored Wisconsin 26-0. That's tough basketball right there. Great team effort, comparable "moral victory" (still hate those) to 2013 OSU football game. Not even that upset we lost.

Great effort. Very proud of the team! They kept fighting and took the #5 team on kenpom to overtime playing freshman and sophomores. This kind of game should give them a lot of confidence going forward.

Wisconsin should be embarassed. A team playing walk-ons and two-star freshman just took you to overtime.

Also, fuck Jay Bilas.  He's the biggest piece of shit in sportscasting.  Everytime Michigan did something well, it was only because Wisconsin did something poorly.  We get it, you hate Michigan because of the Fab 5.  Now do your job and stop being a pussy.

I think Bilas has gotten over the Amaker situation; he has just worked for ESPN long enough that any semblance of rational or independent thought has been beaten out of him by sitting next to Dickie V for over a decade.

As for Amaker, he got screwed going to the tourney the year UM won the NIT, but otherwise he was a mediocre coach and recruiter who obviously got better when he left UM but despite all the reasons you here he and his family like staying at Harvard, I'm guessing if a better program came sniffing around he'd bolt.  The fact he hasn't been on the lips of prestige programs says something.

and just be better than Bilas.

That said, Amaker helped the program tremendously. He took it from the darkest depths to moderately respectable and in the way we were all proud of. He was likable and ran a clean program. The problem is that he could not develop his players. (There is no intent to bring back more recent similar grumblings with regards to another sport at UM.)

He didn't help the program.  Anyone could have made it better at that point and he was barely better than Ellerbe.  His best recruiting seasons were his first 2.  Then very little.  Game management horrible.  Big wins or upset wins were few.  Often destroyed by MSU.

Questionable recruiting at Harvard.  And he wasn't likeable.  He was a humorless prig---and still is.  Oh, and didn't leave much for Beilein.

You might be able to tell---as I am mincing words---that I thought he was awful.

Couldn't disagree more. Bilas went out of his way to tell everyone how tough Blue was playing. Also, the only way UM wins that game is if Bo's minions fail to meet expectations. I also love the fact that Bilas takes every opportunity to dog the NCAA.

He said plenty of positive things about UM. Many of you seem like you want to hate him and are just hearing the things that support your point of view.

And he said a lot of positive things during the last several years when UM has done well. He seems over the Amaker thing and has genuine appreciation for Coach Belein.

The boys played their hearts out tonight....kudos for a great effort.  I'm more encouraged about the future than I have been for a while.  The experience these kids are getting will pay big dividends in the future.

Hell of an effort. After Levert went down I wrote off the season. I'm now really excited to see what these young men can do the rest of the year.

Was really fun to watch Walton gut it out and nail that shot to send it to OT. He definitely tried to force some plays in OT but I don't have much of a problem with that.

The nucleus of this team is strong and continuing to improve. If the freshman can continue making strides this will be back to being a tournament team next year. MAAR really impressive tonight.

For Michigan:

eFG% - 49.07%

OREB% - 34.38%

FTR - 22.22%

TOV% - 13.18%

PPP was 1.13 and A/T ratio was 0.889.

It should be noted that this was the the second most "efficient" performance in the conference schedule this year. Excellent work indeed despite the "L"

For Wisconsin:

eFG% - 53.92%

OREB% - 29.03%

FTR - 37.25%

TOV% - 11.18%

PPP was 1.20 and A/T was 1.50.

but this game was a lot like rutgers.  irvin played a stretch of about 5 good min for the game.  walton played poorly until about 3 min left in regulation.  then he played great and really gutted it out.  unfortunately we were playing wisky instead of rutgers and came up a little short.

all the weird guys played a helluva game tho.

Hard to find much fault taking the #6 team to OT without your best player. Bench really stepped up and all 3 bigs played well against Kaminski. Played great at times and didn't quit, but a few too many sloppy plays cost them. I wish we would quit driving the baseline. It usually doesn't work out very well.

just shows how great a coach coach B is, and after todays Austin Hatch feature Michigan should feel blessed to have him running the Basketball program. A true Michigan Man in every sense of the word

Great hustle from everyone, especially Walton.  I can't help but think how much better this team would be if Chatman was functional (like a 3/4 Doyle).  It's early, but all the red-flags for bust alert are fully raised.  Thankfully the lesser rated guys are looking like they'll outperform their rankings-- MAAR looked very good tonight and Dawkins showed flashes.

See most of MSUs 5 stars. (Payne was awful for 2 years, Dawson was, and remains, ok but..., Delvin Roe, and you can keep going back)

Dekker wasn't great as a freshman. Who was that other big guy Wisconsin had a few years ago, top 10 rated guy. I think he red shirted.

Of course you can list a ton of 5 star that were stars from day 1. But not all of them are.

I checked out last year's, would-be seniors. Of the top 20 guys, only Payne was a solid senior, about 5-8 of them were nobodies, and the rest had gone pro.
