MBB Series w/ Cincinnati Postponed
Per Brendan Quinn, Cincinnati and Michigan have agreed to postpone their men's basketball series to the 2018-2019 season due to a conflict with final exams.

The game will be replaced this year with a road game at South Carolina as part of a home-and-home, with the return trip to Ann Arbor likely being next season.
With that, the 2016-2017 non-conference schedule is now finalized:

I'm glad the Cincinnati series is postponed and not cancelled entirely, as I'm excited about playing them. They're usually a solid team.
South Carolina had a decent squad last year and made NIT, should be a tough road game for us.
It's still annoying for fans that the Texas game isn't on a weekend.

Texas South Carolina Marquette and Pitt or SMU all have potential to be ranked next year should make for some fun games
we could've used the toughening
I actually agree. Outside of J-Mo, it's been infuriating watching us get pushed around. At some point you have to get some guys in there who are big enough and stronger enough to push back. Don't need a team full of them, but they help in those rough and tumble games.
Why schedule it if it conflicts with exams?

Never understood the timing of this anyway as UC doesn't have a home court this year, their arena is getting remodeled.
Last I heard they were going to get the suites done before the 2016-17 season started, and then hold off on the major renovations until after the season was done. They'll have no home court in 2017-2018.
But maybe it's changed again. Seems like they come out with a new plan every few months.
they are at Fifth-Third Arena for sure in 2016-17.
I do find it kind of funny that Cincinnati still has NO idea where they're going to actually play hoops during the renovation. They do have quite a few options: US Bank Arena (this is where U-M played in NCAA Hockey this March), Cincinnati Gardens, Xavier's Cintas Arena, Northern Kentucky's Arena (which is remarkably nice for a Horizon League team).
The fanbase is deeply divided on this particular issue. Xavier's best logistically (size of arena, geography) but a good portion of the fanbase would rather eat glass than give Xavier a single dollar.
Apparently the issue is the team can't travel during exam week. So we still actually have a game that week but it's at home.

One looks at the U-M registar page and there are academic calendar listings out through spring/summer 2018.
E.g., this academic conflict, this would have been a "known issue" for awhile, right?
Some speculation on a UC Bearcat message board I read ---- take it FWIW, because it does seem to be 100% speculation ---- that Cincinnati may be backing out of the 2017 football game. Given that the basketball series was scheduled alongside the football, this basketball push-back may be related?
I know it's ESS EEE CEE basketball, which sucks balls, but I hope Michigan kicks the ever living shit out of Frank Martin.
He's one angry dude and an asshole.

I can live with that trade.
