MBB Recruiting: 5* G Tyus Battle to officially visit this Thursday

Submitted by ypsituckyboy on

Tyus Battle, who is clearly #1 on Michigan's board at the 2-guard spot, will use his 4th official visit to come to Ann Arbor this Thursday.

His Crystal Ball is 82% Duke and 18% Syracuse at this point, so I think it's clear that he'll be headed to Ann Arbor for the fall of 2016.

Overall, Readers are to hung up on Ratings and Stars.  Beilen has brought in quality players the last 4-5 years.  Relax, watch the growth and enjoy the Ride!!!!!!!!!!

If this were true, then we should stop trying to recruit 4 or 5 star kids, maybe even the 3 stars.  Because the 2 stars would be so easy to come by that the staff probably would have even more time to coach, right?

Coaching matters but so does raw talent.

When it comes to big time recruits, we have had more misses than hits lately.  After making the championship game you would think that JB would have no problem winning some of these recruiting battles, but that hasn't been the case.  Frustrating to say the least.

I didnt really think we'd get many in the top 15ish or so as that is Duke UK Kansas territory but I fully expected to see an upswing in the 20-50 area - that is where the OSU, UCLA, Arizona, Louisville types recruit.  Aside from Chatman it's been strikeout after strikeout - 2015 especially was brutal with how many guys we went after and lost out on.  Hell MSU and Maryland are now in there with OSU in that area of the board - and we're mostly looking out like a peeper in the window.

For the most part it just seems unless Beilein identifies a 3 star in 9th grade who he is first on and then that guy explodes as a JR/SR, it's just not going to happen in terms of top 35-50 player unless it's a very player specific sitution like McGary who had AAU teammates headed here.

Beilein is not cool. Period. He's the antithesis of what many in this generation would relate to. I believe the staff needs another "cool" type A personality. I really hate to be critical of Bacari but between his lame pre-game lockerroom speeches and his tweets, I don't think he's off setting Beilein.
