MBB Recruiting: 2017 F Jamal Cain to visit April 27; offer likely
Per Endless Motor Sports, 2017 Michigan basketball target Jamal Cain will visit on April 27 and take the full academic tour. That's pretty signifcant since it likely means an offer will be on the way and there are only two 2017 offers out currently - one to commit Jordan Poole and one to Kyle Young.
I'm a big Cain fan since I think he brings a lot of what we need - defensive assertiveness, high end athleticism, and pretty good handles for a 3. Very high upside.
Some recent highlights below since embeds don't work on original posts.
He looks athletic, and likes to hustle, so I'm optimistic.
As an aside, isn't it weird to have 25 seconds of free throws on a 2 minute video?

As the individual that cut the highlight film, I think it was a subtle way of conveying that the opposition could not stop Cain without doing things that were very much against the rules.
YES PLEASE. I've been hoping we'd offer him for a while. Hopefully he commits before he blows up this summer.

Finally!
Something to keep in mind is an Asst. coaching change. Bacari is the lead recruiter for him and Detroit has already offered.
if this became a Michigan / Detroit battle, regardless of Alexander's future.
Endless Motor Sports is my site. Haven't linked the site here primarily due to the fact that I haven't been through proper channels (i.e. permission from Brian).
In any event, Bacari is not the lead recruiter for Jamal, JB is the lead recruiter, and it has been this way for quite some time.
My apologies. 247 has Bacari listed as the lead.

The database just isn't updated, no fault of your own. Just wanted to clear up any misconceptions.
Just checked out your write ups about him and Bradford. Either he isnt 6'6" or Bradford isnt 6'2". Cain has at least a foot on Bradford in that picture.
We won't be losing a commit to UDM. I'll guarantee you that. And Cain already has a good relationship with Beilein.
That is all.
GO Blue! Would love to see him.
Anthony Wright tweets about how good Cain is 10 times/day.

I'm with the op, def a big Cain fan. And that recruit looks to be pretty talented as well.
Boom!
Jamal Cain is the real deal. Have seen this kid play live, and he is EXACTLY what Michigan needs. Atheticism and size. I believe his jumper will only improve as time goes on, really hoping he gets this offer, and we have a class of Poole, Cain, and Young/Stewart. That would be huge.
As others have said, this kid brings things Michigan lacks right now. And my sense is that this is the time to offer because his stock is going to keep going up.
who coaches in high school basketball that knows about him. He's for real

This whole policy of making a kid visit before you offer him is antiqauted.
That said I like this kid's game. ABout time Beilein went into Detroit. Last kid from the PSL we signed was Manny Harris.
went to UD Jesuit. Derrick Walton went to Chandler Park. Both are from Detroit.
So that's 2 out of...?
I think the general feeling here is that JB doesn't recruit Detroit enough, especially since it's in our backyard.

I can see the gripe, but they haven't produced as they used to 10-15 years ago, I'm not making a big deal out of it.
He said PSL. At any rate, the real point is our inability to recruit the state as a whole, which is undeniable. It's the elephant in the room for this program.

because Michigan isn't what it once was.
I'm aware that he said PSL but JB has done well in Indiana and Ohio, both states produced better players lately than Michigan.

He talks a lot about recruiting, and also enjoys making other schools' fans look stupid.
