MBB: Possible Home-And-Home w/ SMU
Also hearing a possible Michigan-SMU basketball home-in-home series could start this year. Good idea to strengthen OOC

With SMU's recent success in recruiting, I believe that this would be a nice pair of games for us.
I saw an article a couple weeks ago about Beilein wanting a home and home with another big time program.
I guess this is the best they could get, but I'm still excited about this. Michigan also plays them in Football towards the end of the decade.
Get revenge against Larry Brown for "stealing" McQuaid!
Larry Brown will be two jobs down the road by then.
I could be wrong, but I think we get a crack at the Mustangs in 2018 in Ann Arbor, but it would be football in that case (same year we start the hom-and-home with Arkansas, I believe). Either way, it would be interesting get a shot at a Larry Brown-coached team at Crisler - that definitely has the potential to be a fun game.
are correct about 2018
...to think of SMU as a good game. I suppose it will be with the way Brown's recruiting, but I think they were overrated in '13-'14. Their non-conference SOS was terrible.
Well, now their SOS will be much better.
This could be a good game, if Larry Brown can actually stay in one place long enough that he's still their coach by then.
Larry is also 73. A lot can happen to someone from the ages from 73-77 unfortunately.
They can turn 74, 75, and 76!
I think it will be fun to watch this up and coming team against our young "new look" basketball team. I will be getting tickets to this game, and giving LB/Pound for Pound/Coach Brown a standing O for what he did with the Pistons.
My favorite memory of that year was during game 7 of the semis (maybe game 6), there was like 30 seconds left in the game, the game could still go either way, after breaking the huddle in a timeout LB pulls the team in for one last second and says, "Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you guys I love you" then they went out and won the game!
I loved his psychological approach, almost as much as I like Beilein's. AWESOME coaching match up!
SMU is a very good basketball team... and they have been recruiting off the charts... This is a game where we have a lot to lose, but not as much to win since they aren't a historical basketball powerhouse.
SMU will be a tough matchup. Borderline NCAA team last year, best two players return as juniors, they bring in a top 5 recruit, and they have Larry Brown as their coach. This will be a fun game to watch.
He's amassing some good talent down there.
the title of this isn't. MBB: Alleged home and home with SMU
This seems like an odd move, if only because Moody Coliseum is such a small venue. Going on the road all that way to play in front of 7,000 people doesn't seem like much of a "WOW" experience.
If this kind of game got scheduled, it would be interesting to see if SMU wanted to host at the American Airlines Center. It would be a nice showcase for them and an opportunity to try to become a bigger draw in that market. Playing in Mark Cuban's fancy arena would be a nice treat for our guys as well.
for a good preview of the 1-2 times that they make a trip to Dallas every year for the next 10-15 years of their lives.
the game would be played in American Airlines Center. But,your right...very small venue.
I can be there in less than 30. If they move it to the AAC (American Airlines Center) I can take the Green Line and have a better shot at getting a ticket. It will be a tough ticket if they play at Moody. Probably have to push Romo out of his seat!!
Not a fan of these games for all the wrong reason. SMU is a good team with a HOF coach but from a national perception standpoint we have too much to lose.
Even though losing a game to SMU isn't a negative or a bad loss. They should've been in the tournament this year and almost won the NIT.
They played in a conference with the National Champions and with plenty of tournament teams...so again, it's not a bad loss. But from a national perception standpoint, I don't think SMU Basketball carries any weight.
However, it's Dallas and maybe that will help in recruiting that area.
Snark aside, they were/will be a top 25 team. They're a team who has a name for a head coach. They're on the rise. And they're pulling in just as many, if not more, McDonalds All Americans as us.
Excited yet?
