Never seen a team that has this many buzzer beaters go against them.
MBB Open Thread vs Illinois
Are we in Champaign. I thought we were supposed to get home cooking too.
death to backboards as always
"No bank" three at end,and down 3. We are just not very good at lots of important things right now. Need moar energy plz.
us play more with 2 bigs on the court, I think it would help down the stretch and in the tourney
So frustrating. Great defensive possession, then that shit at the end. I feel like this happens a lot. Something great and then bounces to the other team.
At some point we have to get some bounces.
Tenors "bounces" we will get. DD is a dope, but he is spot on in terms of why we are losing.
Need this win. After the long break, it would have been nice to see us come out stronger
8 first half offensive rebounds for Illinois. Good lord.
This team lacks the chip on the shoulder mentality they had to start the year, they almost seem disinterested
I really think the NCAA should adopt a rule that banked-in threes don't count.
Here's what shooting looks like, despite being down by three:
When we have been taking shots, it's been more or less in line with a typical performance, which is fine. The somewhat disappointing stat is this - 2 offensive rebounds in the half. No blocks either, and although we don't get too many on average, a few might be key in the second half. The defense looks markedly better with Morgan in there, and it was nice to see Albrecht bring it too.
The dismal number of offensive rebounds has been going on for the majority of the season, but especially the past month.
We've got to box out. Come on guys, it's a basic basketball fundamental. Standing around and then trying to jump over people is not only causing us to give up a lot of boards, we're also fouling a lot in the process.
At this point I've seen enough to know the team has lost the edge it had earlier in the season. Even if we win this game, there's no reason why it should even be close with Illinois and PSU if the team played with the early season intensity. I stand by my assertion that the UW buzzer beater broke the team. That said, the last few games have seen waaay to many bounces even after good places go against us.
I honestly think it's personnel use. We sub to much and don't allow our guys to get going. I like Spike but he should only be used to give Burke a break and same for LeVert for either guard.
They need to start handing out free beers in the Maize Rage. It's looked dead the last couple Sundays.
I believe we played MSU during spring break two years ago and it was fine. The Blue Rage isn't bad.
Have to hold onto the ball also.
I have liked the defense though as others said we have to go after and get the defensive rebound a lot more than we've been doing.
Less educated and less wealthy but they go crazy and get off their asses. That's the downfall for being Michigan.
We should be good on neutral courts.
Does Michigan ever practice boxing out or getting through screens? Man they are horrible at both!
But, from the 6 games or so that I have seen this year, we don't look good. We make a lot of sloppy mistakes like throwing the ball out of bounds. Where the hell is our rebounding? Why don't we try to score in the paint ever? You would think we would try to get those high percentage shots!
I may be wrong as I am not a big fan of the sport, but to me, we just don't look good.
Mor student section we need mor
WOW, TERRIBLE foul call. McGary was completely vertical!
That is a shit call on Mitch.
How do you defend that call? Defender has the right to to put his hands straight up!
Refs are shit today. What home cooking?
Glenn Robinson is so goddamn soft.
#1 internet tough guy
These refs are blind.
I know Morgan's probably 70% but he really makes some bad choices lately.
Make up call.
Actually, just a bad no-call against Illinois.
If we're wearing the same boots as the Flash?
I can't start a thread, but I'm trying to spread the word as much as possible. Myself and other students at UofM have teamed up with the Make-A-Wish Michigan Foundation to create the first annual Make-A-Wish fundraising challenge against students at MSU. The competition starts this week and continues until March 3rd, the day of the State game. All proceeds that we raise go toward granting wishes of kids at Mott Hospital, while the money MSU raises goes towards kids at Sparrow Hospital. We could use as much help as possible! You can donate online or visit one of our booths this week at Angel Hall or next to the Towsley Center at UofM hospital. If you donate at the booths you get a free maize wristband as a thank you.
For more information, you can visit our facebook page and watch promotional videos from Lloyd Carr and Mateen Cleaves. Or you can directly visit our Make-A-Wish site and learn more about this competition and the Make-A-Wish foundation in general.
It doesn't matter who wins, as long as we can grant as many wishes as possible. That being said, GO BLUE!
Oh goody Lavert is back in
We've gone on a run since he came in.
suck, missing a ton of calls against Illini
GRIII needs to catch the ball cleanly.
Trey from NBA range.
Trey says LET'S GO!
Big run coming here!
And of course these hacks tie together Hardaway's bloody lip with 80's wrestling!
Defense looks a lot better today for the most part.
Man I'm going to miss Burke and his ridiculous NBA 3's next year.
Morgan playing well again on D.
