There are still 8 brackets that have not updated since the MSU game, but with each update, Michigan continues to rise. They are now listed as the last 11 seed by the Bracket Matrix. That seems like the concensus by the experts right now, as well. There are lots of Mid-Majors ahead of them, so beating Illinois should push them up to a 10, or maybe even a 9 if things go in their favor in the other conference tournaments.

these things tend to be based upon "if the tournament was tomorrow." sadly, these things flip when conference tournaments occur, etc.

hoping though!

I'd take an 11 over a 10 or 9 any day.  You get a little bit tougher match up in the first round, but you don't end up having to play one of the top 8 teams in the country in round two.  Think about the 10 we had last time.  We got through Clemson and were playing well, but there was just nothing to be done against Blake Griffen.

I'd rather stay at the 11 seed and have a winnable game against the 6 that leads to a 2nd round game against a 3. This seems better than being a 7 or 10 seed and facing the 2nd seed in the 2nd round, or a 8 or 9 seed and facing the 1 seed in the 2nd round.

Of course, everything will depend on matchups so that throws this logic out the window completely. But if all things were equal, you'd have the best chance of getting to the sweet 16 if you were an 11 or 12 seed i would think.

11 sounds about right unless they win 1-2 games in the BTT.  I do think some of the mid-majors will come back if they don't win their tourneys, but 10-11 range is a nice safe area to be in.

I'm glad to see M in front of St Marys on the Matrix.  Everyone seems to think SMC is a lock to get in - but look at their resume.  If they are a lock, how can Michigan not be?

RPI - 45, Michigan is 55.

SOS is 122, M is 21.

1-4 vs. Top 50, M is 3-8.

3-5 vs Top 100, M is 9-11.

14 sub RPI 150 wins, M has 8

They aren't even "hot" coming into the tourney, 6-4 in their last 10, 7-5 in their last 12.  One win over a team in the top 59 of the RPI - that was St. Johns on November 16th!  Second best win was over #60 Gonzaga... third best was over #92 Long Beach State.  How in the world is this team a "lock?"
