MBB 2nd Half Thread vs. Indiana

Submitted by San Diego Mick on

Alright, Shaky start but good play by our boys most of the way, we need to keep it going.

I figured I'd start another thread cause the other one was getting slow per usual.

Go Blue, let's put up another banner!

Anyone else notice that the refs game IU a fresh 35 after McGary's block that went out of bounds?  It didn't end up hurting them, but Beilein and crew need to be on top of that.

holy fuck i love mcgary. I dont even care that he is playing reckless, i love intensity and the pure anger he's playing with.  That slap on cody zeller's ass after the charge was the icing on the cake.

I thought that when Morgan was injured and people were suggesting that somehow getting him back would substantially improve our defense it was wishful thinking.

Pretty clear that I was wrong.

Would love if we could rebound the ball, Indiana is going to triple up on us for offensive rebounds.

Edit: 19 offensive rebounds to our 6, so, yeah, they've more than tripled up on our offensive boards and doubled up on our defensive boards.

I don't think GRIII's production totals are so much a product of him playing exceptionally well or poorly. I think they are a symptom of whether or not Michigan is playing the kind of game that it wants to be playing.

Trailing. Yuck.

This has been a terribly officiated game, but if Michigan doesn't get better on the defensive boards, the Sweet 16 might be the best they can do.

You can't rebound when any time you get near that flopper Zeller you get called for a foul.  He is going to get killed in the NBA.  He'll get whoever drafts him fired.

We were scoring when he was bringing it up...

Trey is working so hard to get up the floor we can't get into an offense.

We need to swallow our pride and acknowledge Oladipo is a GREAT defender and just move Burke to SG again...

Michigan is once again going into a rut with forcing up shots, and Indiana is staying calm and taking open shots....why do they continue to do this for large stretches of the games?  They were doing great attacking the basket, and now want to move back to heaving up fast 3s.

Morgan/Horford

Robinson/Horford

Stauskas/Hardaway Jr.

Hardaway Jr./Burke

Burke/Albrecht

....I'm riding those guys in those positions until you get under 4 min and can put McGary back in.

Hardaway doesn't come off the floor IMO.

Burke doesn't bring the ball up UNLESS Oladipo is out of the game.

Gotta make some shots is really the bottom line (probably duh), but we were shooting at just under 50% (49.2%) at halftime, that's dropped to 37.7% and Indiana is now shooting better than us.  Take care of a couple of those shots and we're fine.

Were a result of bad hedges by Morgan and him trailing the play while others had to give help. I still don't understand why the bigs don't simply show and stay w the roller.
