MBB 2015-16 Big Ten Opponents
The Big Ten released conference opponents for next year's basketball season. Only one game each against MSU & OSU, but at least we get Sparty at home. Full opponents:
Michigan
Home: Indiana, Michigan State, Northwestern, Rutgers
Away: Illinois, Nebraska, Ohio State, Wisconsin
Home/Away: Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Penn State, Purdue
UMHoops has the opponents for each conference team.

That's not too bad of a schedule, but to play eight of our 13 conference rivals only once (and MSU/OSU once, especially) is ridiculous. The league needs to go to a 20-game schedule, if not even 22.

The road single plays are absolutely brutal, in my opinion.

There is nothing sweeter than knocking off Sparty in the Breslin Center. We very nearly did it this year. To not even have the opportunity to do it next year is a travesty.

I like our home schedule, but those road single plays project to be brutal next year.

This is very similar to Baseball. They play neither MSU nor OSU this year. NO RIVALRY GAMES.
They had to schedule one non-conference game against MSU at Comerica.
Fuck this conference.

Also: here are some non-conference games
vs Air Force
at SMU
3 games in Nassau at Battle 4 Atlantis. Tournament field is Michigan, UConn, Gonzaga, Syracuse, Texas, Texas A&M, UNC Charlotte, Washington.
Also: Michigan plays PSU at Madison Square Garden next year.

That group of teams has Michigan v Charlotte written all over it. We are the only two teams without a natural rival in the field. washington/gonzaga, texas/aTm, uconn/cuse....

With passion in play money is always the worst answer.

Not a bad looking schedule. Looks to be a decent split between the Home and Away games.

I thought I saw somewhere that the PSU game is in NYC. For as difficult as going to OSU and Wisconsin are, only playing them once is nice.

I see it as a net loss schedule-wise for us. IU/Msu more or less equal osu/wisconsin, but away at neb/Illinois is more difficult than rutgers/nw at home. I'm glad the NYC game is in place of an away game, so overall, fine.
Splitting Bloomington and Madison away and home is pretty fair, as well as splitting Lansing and Columbus.
Sparty is probably more upset, but I haven't seen the rest of their schedule.

I was OK with adding Nebraska and having a 12 team conference, but what the hell was the point of adding Rutgers and Maryland? They really screwed up the basketball schedule.

...to Brian's rant on this schedule.
Sparty and Ohio once, while Penn State and Maryland twice. Yeah, that makes a lot of fucking sense.

Brian blamed Brandon for the back to back football games at MSU. Looks like he will need to blame Hackett this time. And, this is likely for 2 years to even things out. Would like to see out of conference games scheduled for the return games.
