How would it make the Duke loss more explainable, because Duke is ranked higher now?  What about comparing rankings at the time of the game?  Using the teams' rankings now as a reason to explain that loss totally disregards how each team is trending; where the game was played; who may have been hurt/injured/experiencing a boo-boo then versus who may have those conditions now.

It was a loss.  It sucks.  I wish we'd won.  It's fucking Duke.  Duke is Duke.  Mostly, I'm just glad we're playing well right now.

That Wisconsin win can really give this team a burst going into a really tough part of their conference schedule.

Michigan Marching Band??  I'm sure they finished the season #1.

Sorry!  Couldn't resist... MMB = Michigan Marching Band, MBB = Michigan Basket Ball

In the last AP poll, I think it was MSU at #3, Wisconsin at #4, Ohio State and Iowa both somewhere in the 10-15 range, as I recall. We actually would have been 31st, I believe, with the 11 votes we did get. I am very curious to see where last night's performance puts us in the other polls, needless to say.

After two lossess this week I'm surprised that Wisconsin didn't fall farther.

Michigan is looking better and better.  But its vital that they protect home court vs. Iowa.

It really doesn't matter right now but Wisconsin being #6 is a joke. They lost 2 straight, once at home, and lost to a team that just lost to Northwestern.

They being said, Wisconsin being ranked high can only help us.

Wisky and Ohio are still highly ranked because they play in the B1G. It's an SEC Football-like effect.

Enjoy it while we can maintain the aura as a conference.

Mmmm Hmmm

That is certainly not a bad thing, especially for B1G teams that are in the 4th-6th in the conference come NCAA seeding time. If you have a win over the top few B1G finishers, it is counted as a very big win.

It may not be fair, but it is somewhat deserved through results and benefits Michigan in years it isn't in the top three in the conference.

I'm OK with the ranking.  Beating Wisconsin was huge, but not all of our B1G wins have been pretty nor were two of of our early season losses What I like is the trend.  If Wisconsion or OSU lose another game in short order, their rankings will drop considerably.

We are still working with a youth movement upon which Beilein's skills as a teacher should yield benefits as the season goes on.  Even without McGary, his replacements are starting to look very good, and can give ten fouls a game between them.

Question for the board...is Wisconsin's inside defense really weak or has it been a two game aberraion?

This is just one guys opinion, not an official poll/ranking.

"The CBSSports.com Top 25 (And One) college basketball rankings are produced by college basketball insider Gary Parrish. These rankings are updated daily throughout the season."

Rankings are still meaningless in basketball, but this is well deserved. This is only the beginning of a brutal stretch of games though, but I say bring it on. M is playing well enough to beat them all.

Shouldn't Wisconsin have fallen out of the top ten, considering how they were thoroughly outplayed by a young team at home, and even missing its best player?

I assumed they'd have been # 11   and us  around  # 16.....

Granted, any team can have a bad game, but to drop only three spots after that shellacking?
