Translation:

"I wanted to be 'committed' so I committed to Michigan State.  On the other hand, it was nice not being committed so, mentally, I may actually still be 'uncommitted.'  Then again, being 'uncommitted' wasn't all that much fun so I think I might just stay 'committed.'  That it, of couse, until such time as I decide that I want to be officially 'uncommitted' again.  If that happens, I will indeed uncommit."

It sounds about as committed as you'd expect a kid at this point given the circumstances, but I think it shows just how important this year is for Sparty.  They had an amazing (for them) season last year, but so far it hasn't paid off with reecruiting outside of Pittman (and even that was more due to OSU's implosion).  So if they struggle/regress back to the 6-7 win plateau that has been their hallmark, some of these kids are going to look elsewhere AND the whispers that Dantonio's teams have a very clear ceiling will start to get louder.  Plus, OSU will be looking for a new coach, he's a legit candidate at a competing school, etc.  As much as has been written about this being a big year for Hoke, Dantonio's legacy at both MSU and (potentially) OSU could be decided this season.

I'm curious as to whether Tom L knows something that's about to drop... he has us at 18 recruits with 4 top 100 players.  Aren't we at 16 players with 2 top 100?  I'm all for counting chickens before they hatch if it means we haul in a few more 4-5 star maulers up front!

Edit:  My bad. I didn't count Mr. Bars and J. Clark.  I'm sticking with the fact that there is an imminent decision for a 5-star lineman or two.  :)

I would not qualify the source as reliable considering it shows that Michigan has 4 players in their top 100 on the top classes list but I could only find 2 players on the list of top 100, and it shows Texas has 4 players in the top 100, but I counted 5 players.  The site shows that Kalis is still committed to Ohio State as well.

That actually undercuts their cred a bit, in my eyes.  I'm pretty high on M's class so far, but UT's having a banner year on the recruiting trail, even by their standards.  I see Michigan as top 5 now, and solidly in the top 10 at year's end, depending on where some uncommitted 5 stars fall.

It's really fairly obvious, Terry is going to play on D and on special teams returning punts, therefore he is listed twice. Interestingly, Woodson was listed three times because he did occasionally go in as a receiver. . .

Yeah, I mean, we're doing awesome on the recruiting front, but didn't ESPN have a ranking out that showed Texas with 16 commits and none of them lower than a 4-star?  That's pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

So I noticed they have 4 of our recruits in the top 100 but I only saw 2 official committs (Richardson and Ross).  Now I also noticed that Diamond, Wormley, and Kais were in the top 100 ( and Kalis still comitted to TSIO).  That being said is it possible they know Wormley and Diamond are silent commits which would bring our total to 4?  I know this is all speculation and rumor but I was having fun and wishful thinking.

On another subject, heard through the grapevine that Kalis is a silent commit but does not want to say publicly because he is already receiving death threats against him and his family. If this is true really shows the Bucknuts attitude toward "their players".  But I think we already knew that.

...and that's why Michigan fans need to keep their attitudes and comments in check about recruits.  If Richardson, Ross, etc. want to explore other options, let them decide for themselves where to spend their next four years.  Threatening or insulting them isn't going to help.

But do you really think that a ranking service that can't seem to put out a Top 100 without several repeat names, and actually has more than 100 players has some type of scoop that Rivals and Scout don't have?

Also, if it were true about Kalis why would they still have him committed to OSU?

I think that what we're dealing with here is plain old incompetence.

I didn't see any threats while scanning the OSU boards for schadenfreude, but I saw plenty of people hoping he blows both of his knees out, and never plays again. After my observations the last couple of weeks, I can safely say that OSU fans are truly the worst, far worse than MSU, M, or any other fanbase I have witnessed.

I haven't seen anything like that either, but there was a quote from a scout moderator that said something like, that while those closest to him believe he will end up at UM, no one would go on the record.

While that might mean no one wanted to spoil the surprise, I doubt it. That kind of reaction seems to point to a deeper level of concern for it becoming public. It's unfortunate.

Wow, that site is a mess.  6 repeated players in their top 100, it claims 18 UM commits but then only shows 16 when you click on UM, and it says 4 top 100 when Rickardson and Ross are the only ones in their top 100 (which goes to 106).

They need to get their stuff together.

Kalis still considered committed to OSU.

Diamond and Wormley both also among the targets in the top 100.

Regardless of the true validity of this ranking, it's another selling point for Hoke & Co.  "Come to Michigan and be a part of the best recruiting class in the country."

This would be great if it was finalized on NSD.  I find it hard to believe that Northwestern has a higher ranked class then Ohio State.

Sure the list appears to be a mess.  But if we're going to be ranked by a service of questionable voracity, we may as well be #1 on said list...
