max bielfeldt posbang thread
can we just get his calves?
all i heard was "i'm a whiny sulking little pansy"
He would add some depth down low and provide much needed experience. That's our weakest position so it would be helpful.
I'm on board.
No brainer unless you can get a better graduate transfer somewhere. I wasn't really sold on Doyle or Donnal and thought MB did a pretty good job at times and he would provide some depth down low.
Does max want to come back. Don't see him getting minutes next year.
your question reveals flaws in your character
Lol no .
neville chamberlain over here.
Max .. His name is Max. I don't need that in my life.
doesn't need your defeatest attitude or calf-questioning mindset
he goes by 'moose' amongst the team.
My two-year-old son pronounces his name like "Mack Beef-elk." That's awesome...
Your son is good at naming things. He should name more things. If you have another child, let him choose the name. You won't regret it!
ummmm. I know I'm in the minority, but let Max go. if he's seeing any significant minutes next year, we're not where we should be
with yogurt you life coward
Chobani Yogurt*, of course.

Yeah, but we have an open scholly, and he would provide insurance in case Doyle or Donnal don't pan out next year or get injured as we saw how depth is important this year. He did a pretty good job in the Wisconsin game and other games last season.
When Mark Donnal is your back up to Doyle who barely has a 5 inch vertical... yeah we could use all the help we can get.
I think you're overly pessimistic on everything.
We're lacking in the post...and yes, I would prefer a top 3 overall player, but we have Doyle and a bunch of nothing.
PLEASE bring back the calves. That would be huge for the team (no pun intended).
It allows Wilson to stay at PF and Max is better than Donnal right now. And Doyle isn't playing 25+ minutes a game. Bring him back for 10-12 minutes at the C spot depending on how Donnal develops.
You damn well intended that pun.
...there was no going back.
No way I'd take him over Brown, but I'd probably take him over Williams if we're talking for 1 year.
He knows the offense, he's at the biggest position of need...he'll be a leader.
Bring him back for sure, you can't recruit a post player because you have 2 and 2 coming in next year. A nice one year to get us some size down low.
I thought there had been some announcement or something that he was coming back, based on the title of this. But I definitely agree he would be great for our depth at that spot, I wouldn't mind it at all. It's better than giving out a scholarship by taking a reach, because beilfeldt will only have it for a year rather than 4, where we could go after more touted prospects.

Let him go. I bet we'll take another stab at Williams

Thinking the aliens had won
You act like he's committed. Seeing we didn't get Brown may open things up again. You never know... Hell no one knew Cal had an actual chance for Jaylen Brown

But mostly MAX
I'm just here or the posbang.
If it's Max or nothing, I'll take Max.

High fuckin praise for sure
Relax Max

If we aren't recruiting any more 4 year players, then I say we go to Max and see if he wants the spot. If he does, you give him the scholarship. It opens up again next year.
If Max doesn't want the spot, then its another story.
i need my five to box out or i start yelling at electronic devices.
i think doyle needs one more year of being on a short leash as far as mental mistakes--particularly boxing out.
not boxing out is such an emotional nut punch for the whole team.
bielfeldt gets this and plants his danged calves into the ground with some conviction! And i thought he was good as far as ripping 50/50 rebounds down.
'moooooooose!'
If he wants to come back and be part of an awesome team, why not. He proved his worth last year.
I think Doyle will get there eventually but Max was the only 5 we had who could play strong and physical defense. Plus he showed he can score some and of course a 5th year guy provides leadership. All positives if he stays IMO

I don't see Bielfeldt being a difference maker in getting to the Final Four, much less beating Sparty. But the depth for 10-15 minutes a game would be nice I guess.
in the 92 NCAA Tourney run that ended w/ the loss to Duke.
Riley scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Sweet 16 win over Oklahoma State (a close 75-72 over Big Country) while Voskuil hit two 3s in the latter part of the 2nd half of the Final Four win over Cincinatti (a close 76-72 win over Nick Van Exel).

You never know when the marginal* player is going to add a crucial marginal contribution.
*For a lack of a better term, I don't mean it disparagingly.
with the "Bring back Max" crowd. Compared to our other options now with the team, he brings so much more in defense and leadership than anyone else, plus he developed last season into a nice 4th/5th option offensively. In some ways, he's like a Jordan Morgan Light.
And, like others have posted, his scholarship is immediately available the next recruiting class.
I'm all for having Max back! We need his help at the 5!
