He would add some depth down low and provide much needed experience. That's our weakest position so it would be helpful.

No brainer unless you can get a better graduate transfer somewhere. I wasn't really sold on Doyle or Donnal and thought MB did a pretty good job at times and he would provide some depth down low.

We're lacking in the post...and yes, I would prefer a top 3 overall player, but we have Doyle and a bunch of nothing.

PLEASE bring back the calves. That would be huge for the team (no pun intended).

It allows Wilson to stay at PF and Max is better than Donnal right now. And Doyle isn't playing 25+ minutes a game. Bring him back for 10-12 minutes at the C spot depending on how Donnal develops.

No way I'd take him over Brown, but I'd probably take him over Williams if we're talking for 1 year.

He knows the offense, he's at the biggest position of need...he'll be a leader.

Bring him back for sure, you can't recruit a post player because you have 2 and 2 coming in next year. A nice one year to get us some size down low.

I thought there had been some announcement or something that he was coming back, based on the title of this. But I definitely agree he would be great for our depth at that spot, I wouldn't mind it at all. It's better than giving out a scholarship by taking a reach, because beilfeldt will only have it for a year rather than 4, where we could go after more touted prospects.

If we aren't recruiting any more 4 year players, then I say we go to Max and see if he wants the spot.  If he does, you give him the scholarship.  It opens up again next year.

If Max doesn't want the spot, then its another story.

i need my five to box out or i start yelling at electronic devices.

i think doyle needs one more year of being on a short leash as far as mental mistakes--particularly boxing out.

not boxing out is such an emotional nut punch for the whole team.

bielfeldt gets this and plants his danged calves into the ground with some conviction! And i thought he was good as far as ripping 50/50 rebounds down.

'moooooooose!'

I think Doyle will get there eventually but Max was the only 5 we had who could play strong and physical defense. Plus he showed he can score some and of course a 5th year guy provides leadership. All positives if he stays IMO

I don't see Bielfeldt being a difference maker in getting to the Final Four, much less beating Sparty.  But the depth for 10-15 minutes a game would be nice I guess.

in the 92 NCAA Tourney run that ended w/ the loss to Duke.

Riley scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Sweet 16 win over Oklahoma State (a close 75-72 over Big Country) while Voskuil hit two 3s in the latter part of the 2nd half of the Final Four win over Cincinatti (a close 76-72 win over Nick Van Exel).

You never know when the marginal* player is going to add a crucial marginal contribution.

*For a lack of a better term, I don't mean it disparagingly.

with the "Bring back Max" crowd.  Compared to our other options now with the team, he brings so much more in defense and leadership than anyone else, plus he developed last season into a nice 4th/5th option offensively.  In some ways, he's like a Jordan Morgan Light.

And, like others have posted, his scholarship is immediately available the next recruiting class.
