Maty Mauk visiting soon?

Submitted by 719Yoop on

GoBlueWolverine on scout.com has a story which says "A number of big time football and basketball visitors will hit UM in the coming days, including one surprise who snuck in Friday. Plus we tackle the number of remaining slots in the 2012 football class, the number of offensive and defensive line slots remaining." (Info wasn't under a pay-wall, the whole story is). The picture next to this story is of Maty Mauk, any recruiting guru's want to try to shed some light on this situation?

I thought that Jarron Jones was supposed to be visiting around now, but I can't swear that. If wild speculation is ok, wasn't Ondre Pipkins going to be in the area for a camp next week? It seems like he could have slipped in. Also, Gunner Kiel put off what was expected to be an Oklahoma commit, so that isn't out of the question. But I am totally just speculating on all of the above, so don't give it any credence. I'd sure like to hear though !

PS - I thought Mauk wanted ND, but maybe they cooled on him or something . . .

There were some rumblings last week that Michigan had improved its position with Mauk and that if Kiel didn't choose us we had a good shot with him.

and I can't really believe that I'm saying this, but I think with limited space left in this class that at the QB position I would say Kiel or nothing. With Morris on board, and with DG hopefully getting a redshirt, I would much rather see us take an extra lineman. Depth on both lines is crucial, and with the names Michigan is still in on, I'd like to see how that plays out before we take a non-Kiel QB. Thoughts?

Yep, big fish or bust.  Let's not forget we have Bellomy (sp) coming in too, the kid can play.  All football games are won up front, with the studs seriously considering us it might be a good idea to skip a QB this year.  But there's always the old school thought that you can never have too many QB's on the roster.  Remember,  Brady was the 7th QB on the depth chart when he arrived on campus.

we need another scholie QB on the roster....there will be 3? this fall... are there any of the walkons such as JFK or the other QB #14 on scholie yet?  so that would leave D & D & Bellomy as the only scholie QBs this fall...so it seems there is room for another before the second coming of Brady comes in 13.

someone has to get the scholly to ride the pine for 4 years, maybe 5.  Again I repeat, this kid will do nothing in college...doesn't matter if he's here or ND or wherever.  Nothing against him, he's just not that good.
