Mattison walks in on meeting between Narduzzi, McDowell

On the first day contact was allowed during the latest recruiting period under NCAA rules, Michigan State defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi, Michigan defensive coordinator Greg Mattison and Alabama assistant Bobby Williams were patiently biding their time at the school.

McDowell arrived at school, entered a tiny office and sat against the left wall in the middle of a row of chairs. At a small round table, Narduzzi began speaking, talking about football, about life, about his future in both areas — the door closed for just the two of them.

“Michigan State was here, then Michigan came, they just walked right in and sat down,” McDowell said. “That was pretty funny. I was just sitting there watching … (Coach) Narduzzi was sitting right here. It just all stopped. Then (Mattison) was like, ‘Oh, is this a bad time?’ It made me laugh.”

Ha, ha. Mattison must have figured Narduzzi wouldn't be quick enough on his feet to embarrass him. I love those kinds of moves from the old sales pros. MadMen like.

It is actually pretty funny.  If Mattison really wanted to be a dick about it, he could have walked in and said something like, "Oh, you are still here?  I'm sorry, but I thought you had already left for yet another interview for a head coaching position.  I am really going to miss coaching against you when you leave next year."

I have never seen so many whiney people in my life as what I have seen on this site for the last couple of months.  I know you won't ever miss me but I think I am taking a break from here.  Maybe it will be better in awhile, I hope so, as I liked coming here a couple times a day but not anymore.  I sure am glad the players are growing up faster than the fans!   Go Blue always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I presume this really wasn't that big of a deal to anyone involved.  This isn't Dantonio yelling at another coach, or like Mattison really "interrupting" Narduzzi except I guess sitting down.  Doesn't sound like anyone was too bothered.

I'm probably being too charitable here, but just because it's a closed-door meeting doesn't mean we know anything about the timing arrangements. For example, it's possible that coaches had an allotted times with a recruit and that MSU's was coming to a close.

Saying that the Michigan coaching staff was finished.  Maybe it is Hoke and companies way to say STFU and stop the negative bullshit.  This seems very plausable.
