Per Matt Slovin, Daniel Milne has left hockey team

Submitted by Lionsfan on
On my phone so I can't embed, but Matt Slovin just had a tweet that the hockey team might lose a player to the OHL. Just rumors for now though Another added, apparently it's not Trouba, Nieves, Guptill, Hyman, Serville, or Di Giuseppe. Edit: Daniel Milne has left the program

I hate saying this, but the way this season is going I'm surprised it's only one.  I'd think those OHL vultures would be lighting up the phones of everyone and anyone on the team.

If it's not Trouba he'll be going pro next year. This is just sad how bad things are getting so fast. Snowball effect.

He was probably going to do that anyway, especially after his performance at WJC. I was hoping we'd have a good season and he would be an asset to a tournament run, but it is not to be. Frankly, if we can get him through the year and on to the pros without him regretting that he came here instead of the O, I'll be happy with that. I'd love to have him back next year but it's not going to happen.

Connor Carrick decommitting before the season really hurt this team. Recruiting failures are the cause of this slide.

Words cannot describe how much I wish John Gibson didn't decommit.

I'm sorry, but that is simply false. There are some good players that went elsewhere that would help the team, but the players that are in Ann Arbor are quite capable of playing good hockey. There are draft picks everywhere, and the talent level on this team is, at worst, top-three in the conference.

The reason the team is sliding is because the players are not playing up to their potential and not playing at all well as a team.

You don't actually think BG was more talented than Michigan on Tuesday, do you?

Should have specified that as failures in goalie recruiting. Losing goalie recruits like Jack Campbell, John Gibson have led to the current goaltending situation. With Gibson backing out, Hunwick was the only goalie with any experience on the roster last year. I could smell the potential goaltending problems miles away but still remained confident since Red had been praising Rutledge and saying it was "his job to lose".

I would say Rutledge has performed the worst of the 3 so far.

I don't think you can fault Red for "failing" to recruit goaltenders. He's not competing on a level playing field. Campbell, for example, is widely believed to be the whistleblower that got Windsor into trouble-there's little question he got a sweet deal, and little question about Gibson either.

That's not to say that things couldn't be better, just that Michigan has been ravaged by the corruption of the OHL more than any other team in the NCAA.

I wish Gibson didn't decommit either, but I don't think we would have had him this season regardless. He's about to be called up to Anaheim full time. So if he had been here, he would have been goalie over Hunwick the last few years, and that's about it. No guarantee he would have stayed with us this whole season

meh. He hardly played and was more than often a scratch.

I am to the point where I don't give a shit anymore. Especially seeing the rest of the team not giving a shit after the cheap shot on Mac Beats. The snark is going to strong in me when I go to the rest of the games in section 17.
