well that's just, like, your opinion, man
I mentioned this in a different thread but here seems more fitting. 2013 CB commit Gareon Conley will be on FSD alternative @7:30. Massillon vs Akron Buchtel.
I can't stand watching this stuff, please come faster sept. 1st.
Guy just said Will Campbell has bulked up...ummm no he hasn't.
7-0 Massillon in the 1st.
Devers looks much bigger than 265. Seems like a player though.
Just turned it on, what # is Conley?
Thank you very much, thank god football is finally back.
Did anybody else watching this hold their breath and hope that wasn't Conley that just got rocked?
Conley hauls in a deep ball down inside the 5 yard line.
14-0 Massilon, Conley caught a bomb and Massilon score 2 plays later
HUGE 46 yard pass to Conley sets up another Massillon TD.
Massillon leads 14-0
He's a little thicker than I expected to be honest. Nobody will ever confuse him with Kenny Demens but he's not a twig either. He looks like he has the frame to add another 15-20 pounds no problem. Oh yeah, and he's fast as shit too.
I have a bit of a different take. He's been kind of a non-factor of D so far. I've counted two tackes, one solo on which I thought he could have challanged up to the line better. Although he did shed his blocker and may have saved a TD even though the tackle was 10 yards downfield. I suppose he's playing well in pass coverage because they haven't thrown a single pass his way, and only even given one or two looks on his side of the field. But he is doing very well on O.
Conley plays on all 3. Offense, Defense and a punt returner.
Conley on an end-around play gets close to a first down.
Yeah, I saw him pulling the Roundtree and streaking up the seam with air defending him...but alas, QB dumps is short.
14-0 Massillon after 1.

21-0 Massillon on a big TD pass.
Man, Akron is getting wooped right now. I hope it gets competitive so we can see more of Conley on the field. Otherwise say goodbye after half-time.
That QB has a pretty good arm
Conley with a key pass breakup. Got in at the last second. Great play.
I like how before the snap, you could hear the coach yelling "watch the wheel!". And what route did they try and throw? The wheel. Massilon had that scouted cold. Conley has been locking up the outside receiver man-to-man all night, except for that play where he hands off the outside receiver to the safety and jumps on the wheel route. Pretty impressive stuff.
Conley with a nice punt return.
Massillon shanks a 41yd FG attempt. 21-0 MHS.
Buchtel short TD run. Massillon leads 21-6. Buchtel fails on fake XP pass attempt
TD Massillon. 28-6 lead for MHS.
Wow, HS football is on a differenet level in Ohio. That stadium is way bigger than anything in Michigan.
My God, Massillon HS is like a Division 2 college stadium. Crazy.
This isn't really typical of football in Ohio, just for anyone who's wondering. Massillon is probably one of the 5 most fanatical high school football towns in the nation, and their facilities reflect it. Most stadiums are scaled down a lot.
That's not to say it doesn't get taken seriously here though, all it does is take one threat to football programs, and Ohio district levies get passed real fast.
Not Conley's game, but Deveon Smith currently has 14 rushes for 230 yards and at least 1 TD so far in his game tonight. I suppose that's decent.
Now over 300 after a 50 yard TD run.
Holy crap. Beast mode!
Okay, who's the douche negging all my posts for no reason?
Hopefully what I did helps.
Now that you've mentioned it, I'm obligated to go neg every single one of them. There are rules here.
Im on it, W-Devotee. I love upvoting
Massillon TD pass. 35-6 in the 3rd.
Conley came off limping after that punt return. Any other word on what happened?
sidelines. I know that he's been mentoring high risk students at one of the Massillon middle schools in some sort of teaching capacity. Maybe he had some influence on Gareon's decision?
Taylor is looking like a beast vs this Buchtel defense.
Massillon runs it in for another score. This one is getting ugly. 42-6 in the 3rd, Tigers.
From Lakeside, Michigan recruit Deveon Smith fighting through cramps, just scored from 50 yards out.. 35-16 lead... over 300 yds now.
Oh my God, they have a live Tiger at a HIGH SCHOOL game?!
*Calls DB about the return of Bennie and Biff to Michigan Stadium"
the facility really is first class. Its an older stadium but theyve taken care of it - fieldturk and covered seating on the home side. Massillon is one of the most storied programs in the state and the town really does revolve around football. They touched on it briefly but right next to the stadium theyve got an indoor fieldhouse that's less than 5 years old. I've seen it in person and it definitely is comparable with Al Glick Fieldhouse - to give you some perspective.
Buchtel with a bomb and get on the board in the 2nd half. 2pt conversion pass is good. 42-14 Massillon.
Buchtel scores on 70yd TD pass. Buchtel has scored 15 unanswered points.
Massillon leads 42-21 with 3:20 left in the 3rd.
Conley really could have taken a better angle on that one. Impressive that he caught up to the receiver, and it was really tough tackle to make, but kind of a poor effort on it.
LONG FG good by Massillon makes the score 45-21 in their favor.
Conley with a nice 3rd down grab for 12 yards.
Massillon driving down the field for another score, still passing the ball despite being up 45-21 late in the 4th.
Massillon runs it in, 52-21 Tigers late with 8:30 left. Definitely look like they can try for their 23rd state title, but first playoff title.
Conley is off the field and as are the other starters for Massillon.
how am I supposed to know where the first downs are without the glowy yellow line?!
Paying attention to things sucks.
Final: Massillon 52 Buchtel 21
Poor Ricky Powers. I bet part of him was smiling though seeing how Gareon was playing well and knowing he is a future Wolverine.
Appreciate the updates for those of us who couldn't see it. Any final stats on Smith?
Finished with 17 carries for 311 yards and 3 TDs. Game story with video
DeVeon also had at least once sack to go along with his 311 yards and 3 TDs. Even if we don't get Green, we certainly have some depth at RB the next few years with the likes of Rawls, Hayes, Drake, Norfleet, Smith, and Shallman.
