Not much of a surprise. He seemed to have a tentative hold on the job before the season even started. Then him having no clue about that players only meeting sounded like a death knell for him there.

Peppers return, a two-yard plus defensive gain. I guess that was about the only moral victory from Saturday's blackout beating.

Better hope a miracle presents itself this weekend in Columbus. I wouldn't count on one, though Buckeye fans are actually wanting their team to beat the Terps like redheaded step-children because of Michigan's shutout last week.

In the spirit in which Brady Hoke, a Michigan man, was brought in to coach Michigan, Randy Edsall will be replaced by a crabcake, with some Old Bay seasoning at offensive coordinator.

I have no regrets about bringing them on.

But Rutgers?

I have used their archives on occasion, and found them to be pretty decent.

And I guess they won the first intercollegiate football game a century and a half ago, so that's a feather in Delany's cap.

USNews ranks the college #57, but that ranking doesn't really account for research.

They rank the University (overall) #41 in the world. Good enough for #6 in the B1G.

It's a really good institution, and on average it elevates the academic reputation of our conference.

Did the road trip to Rutgers (and Mahattan/Brooklyn) last year and Maryland (and DC/Old Town Alexandria) this year.

Maryland has a very, very nice campus, and didn't they like win more big ten championships in the conference than anyone else.  They were great hosts and had a chance to talk to a few of their loyal at their local bar.... in between the gang signing Hail to the Victory (highlight of my trip!)... numerous times... seemed classy. They felt like Big Ten.

Was not impressed with Rutgers campus.... or lack thereof,  and no they did not feel like Big Ten... their fans are well... from Jersey.  But give me NY, NY and NJ recruits.... and I ain't gonna complain.  Just hope that down the line... they take some steps in the right direction once they get their finances squared away.

Adding Rutgers to the Big Ten was idiotic. Rutgers has only won one NCAA national championship, in fencing. All of the other Big Ten universities have at least 20 national championships as recognized by the NCAA, except for Northwestern and Purdue. Michigan has 49.

Also, Rutgers isn't a slouch academically, but they aren't exactly stellar either.

Other than the fact that they are near New York City (which is a weak argument anyway), it is inconceivable why they were added to the Big Ten.

The presence of Maryland and Rutgers is giving us some inroads into the fertile recruiting grounds of NJ and the DC area.

They make those areas "Big Ten country" in recruits minds.   And every single year, we play a game in either NJ or the DC area.  Every single year.  The University of Michigan does not seem so foreign and far away as it once did because Maryland and Rutgers are in the B1G.

That's good for us.
