Who cares. Or maybe she was coping the same way as the rest of us during that first half.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:26 PM ^
second of her drunken speech. Best thing about the whole game....
November 9th, 2013 at 9:43 PM ^
Between that and the block on the punt by Bolden or Dynomite are the only thing keeping me semi upright
November 9th, 2013 at 8:28 PM ^
Mary Sue Coleman is intelligent enough to know that you don't watch a Borges offense without booze.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:29 PM ^
Even 14 year old little macdaddy and his 13 year old cousin instantly realized what was going on. Man, she sounded wasted.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:29 PM ^
Really......
November 9th, 2013 at 8:30 PM ^
Is there a youtube link out there??? Anyone?
November 10th, 2013 at 8:29 PM ^
Here's your link (finally)

Like many others, I was initially concerned that she had had some sort of cerebral event (i.e. stroke) and that's why she was retiring. But after seeing her goofy smile on the jumbo screen, and especially after re-watching on YouTube, my diagnosis : 2 or 3 or 4 too many pre-game rum 'n ciders.
It's really too bad someone in her entourage didn't look out for her and just say she was ill or something. Unfortunate way to go out after a pretty positive run as prez.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:33 PM ^
We all need booze to watch this team.....even MSC
November 9th, 2013 at 8:35 PM ^
Since the second Bo died this has been a downward spiral...i know im off topic, am i off topic tho?
November 9th, 2013 at 8:36 PM ^
I missed the half time show, was it really that bad or are you guys just joking?
November 9th, 2013 at 8:37 PM ^
Well it was pretty obvious she was not sober. Whether that is "bad" or not is up to you.
November 9th, 2013 at 9:21 PM ^
In my opinion it was awesome. She would've done anything...
November 9th, 2013 at 8:37 PM ^
All it takes is 3 claps.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:37 PM ^
Yes we noticed it, especially when she said, "the team, the team, the team."
November 9th, 2013 at 8:38 PM ^
you think once she is gone we can hang up the baners again?
November 9th, 2013 at 8:43 PM ^
God I hope.
Nobody else has taken down banners of vacated stuff.
And look at where they are now. Winning games.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:41 PM ^
Second time this thread started today
November 9th, 2013 at 8:42 PM ^
I needed to drink heavily as well to stomach that performance.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:42 PM ^
We were debating whether she was hammered or just trying to talk slowly so she could be understood through the speakers. Leaning towards hammered though, which most students found quite comical.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:56 PM ^
I was actually worried she might be having a stroke.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:42 PM ^
One of the funnier things I've seen. Everyone looked around at each other incredulously for five seconds then we all lost it. She took forever to say two words.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:43 PM ^
Yes, I thought she was tanked
November 9th, 2013 at 8:48 PM ^
video please. This and eventual coaches being fired (which will happen, for sure, absolutely, no doubt, no delay) are the only good things to come out of today.
But only if I can see it.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:53 PM ^
I bet she was celebrating the $4billion profit-generating campaign for the non-profit public institution.
November 9th, 2013 at 10:22 PM ^
You have no idea how nonprofits work.
November 10th, 2013 at 10:35 AM ^
I know there a lot of people getting rich because of them.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:53 PM ^
Link or it didn't happen. I really want to hear this. Someone had to of recorded it.
November 9th, 2013 at 9:05 PM ^
It happened. It was awkward. You could see Dave Brandon on the jumbotron with the "are you kidding me dumbfounded" look
November 9th, 2013 at 9:14 PM ^
Link please if anyone recorded it.
Thanks!

Ask any of the 110,000 of us who were at the game. She was wasted, but not to the point where she was staggering. One big issue was apparently they didn't tell her ahead of time they were doing this little ceremony. She even started her slurred comments by saying that. It was embarassing, not just for her personally, but the school too.

how bout the triple?
November 9th, 2013 at 8:55 PM ^
but everyone else convinced me she was just drunk. Maybe partying with Toronto's mayor pre game?
November 9th, 2013 at 8:57 PM ^
Yeah I had the same reaction initially. I seriously thought that perhaps she had recently suffered an undisclosed stroke.
November 9th, 2013 at 10:56 PM ^
I thought she might have had a stroke too but as it went on it was way too happy for a stroke.
November 9th, 2013 at 8:57 PM ^
If she was she forgot the cocain part.
Have we learned nothing from the movie Flight?
November 9th, 2013 at 8:59 PM ^
That was one of the most awkward things I've ever seen. She didn't even get an ovation after she spoke because nobody had any idea what the hell just happened.
November 9th, 2013 at 9:04 PM ^
but there was a "12" jersey out there with her name on it and for a second, I thought of Devin when he was number 12 and got all nostalgic....
also, she did say they surprised her with the ceremony, which could account for the extra glass of wine....
November 9th, 2013 at 10:57 PM ^
But wouldn't have 13 for 13th president made more sense?
November 9th, 2013 at 9:04 PM ^
Can someone friggin explain what this thread is about
November 9th, 2013 at 9:06 PM ^
Mary Sue gave a little speech at half time and it seemed like she was quite tanked while doing it. Speaking really slowly, kind of slurring words a bit, not standing still, etc.
November 9th, 2013 at 9:43 PM ^
Mary Sue Coleman might've been the best part if the game, but for me the second best part was seeing Lloyd Brady
November 9th, 2013 at 9:09 PM ^
is that it was the best part of the game.
November 9th, 2013 at 9:39 PM ^
Doesn't have season tickets.
November 10th, 2013 at 1:01 AM ^
You found the one person who doesn't have season tickets. Thanks for pointing him out, like he didn't feel inferior already...
