They did this again in 4 years ago in 2007... But since the children's hospital is now facing Markley the staff wouldn't allow FUCK OSU.  So they did OSU SUCKS instead.  I have the picture on my computer at home and I'll post it later.

2nd Frost.  We only had dorms on the north side of the hall because the south side was in the hill and had no windows (that side was used for storage).  Not a bad hall except the windows opened out and when any of the people above barf or pour stuff out their windows, it would hit ours.

That was the year of "The Outbreak" of the stomach flu that got half the dorm quarantined.  The Michigan Daily that year published an article awarding the "Worst Place to Live On Campus" to Mary Markley (construction of the new SoPH was the other reason).  My room was almost directly behind the sign for the dorm (below that damn cement wall anyway), so I got a nice front page picture of my room featured with the article.   I suppose that makes up for the inability to be part of such awesomeness.

When they had the food poisoning bad enough to make the local news; they had a python loose in the dorm for days; and we had our usual bevy of bats flying around the halls....it sounds like an easy year.

These are great pictures. Unfortunately, I have a hard time looking at the back side of that dorm without thinking of Courtney Cantor, who fell out of one of the rooms at the top of the "O" and died after landing on that loading dock. I was with my girlfriend that night in the room at the left-top of the "U". Woke up to police in the hall.

I'm living in 5th Van Tyne right now. When I saw this I instantly wanted to make it happen, but my roomate pointed out that everyone leaves for Thanksgiving tomorrow. I'll try my best to make something happen tonight, but I don't have much time for plannning/getting people to participate so no promises.

I'll be going on the graveyard walk tonight, so if you could do this from, say, 7 PM until 9 PM, that would be great for me to get some nice shots from the walk. Just sayin'. Also, it would be legendary given what you said about people leaving for vacation (although, a screwdriver, a credit card and some elbow grease might help you out with the already empty rooms....).

Just go door to door right now (NOW!) telling appropriate people to please leave their lights on over break.  Even make up some BS reason such as "safety" or "prevent thefts."  Hopefully you don't run into any hippie tree huggers.

I still have the email the Markley facilities manager sent our RA:

"We have had food thrown around and smashed on the walls for a few months. They have taken toothpaste and squeezed it into locks, which has ended up on the carpet. Now they have gone to the point of accessing the pipe chase and turning the water off to the toilets. They have removed all but one of the shower handles in the 5332 restroom. Also, the lounge has been trashed, they dumped spoiled milk on the furniture. The couch's may not be able to be cleaned so that the odor is eliminated. How should we approach this situation?"

IN 1975 as well when I lived there. I didn't realize it was a multi-year tradition.

M-OSU is all about tradition, Therefore Markley MUST do this!!!! Keep the dream alive!
