I really dislike Purdue for their coach and how frustrating our last 2 games against them were. Hope he gets picked off 4 times.
Marve #1 QB Heading into Purdue Fall Practice
This guy hasn't shown anything so far. A 9:13 TD to INT ratio is not good. We're lucky we don't have to see Siller again.
Am I the only one wondering how a coach can name a starting quarterback during the summer when coaches can't assess players during that period? Ok, maybe he knew during Spring ball but decided to hold off on the announcement to motivate his players during the Summer months. But still, Coach Hope might be up to something...
I think you may be reaching into this a bit too much.
Not at all. It was sarcasm mixed with my dislike for Coach Hope because of "the handshake"...
This actually scares me a bit. He was a 4* recruit for Miami. I figured he transferred because he was second string, but it looks like he had "off-field issues". He was the #8 QB in his class, according to Rivals, and he has a season of experience under his belt. I'm starting to think we are looking at another shootout. At least he only has ACC speed and not SEC speed.
the reason he's not at miami anymore is because the coaches there decided they'd rather start a true freshman (albeit jacory harris) over him. that's not to say he sucks, but it's not exactly joe montana behind center for them
The guy right below him was none other than Steve Threet (rivals 4 star, #9 QB in c/o 2007). Not a rip on Threet, but being a 4 star doesn't automatically bequeath you with accuracy and proficiency. Their numbers in 2008 were virtually identical, but Marve wasn't going through a coaching transition or the installation of a new offense. Maybe Marve has improved since then, but there's no reason to be concerned at this point.

Which stat set is Tate's, and which is Marve's? Furthermore, which one of these guys had to throw on Wisconsin, Iowa, Penn State, and Ohio State; and which guy only had to square off against Bud Foster and then the rest of the 2008 ACC defenses?
Hope ain't got nothing we ain't got.
Yet another stop on our hellbent vengeance skull-crackin' tour.
If I remember correctly, the was meh at Miami and was more of an athlete than a good QB. Of course, that will put pressure on LBs and the defensive line to contain him, but I'm not super-worried about Marve. My bigger concern with Purdue is that we go there before coming home to Wiscy and then off to Ohio State. Those last two teams are against the presumptive class of the Big 10, and UM would be best served to win the game against Purdue because getting wins in those final two games are going to be tough. Not that this team would overlook Purdue, but I just don't want a repeat of this year when winnable games against Illinois and Purdue were squandered and the team basically had its head beaten in trying to pull of major upsets at the end.
I watched him play in HS; he led his school to its first ever FHSAA Championship against tremendous odds just to get there. He was cool under fire and more than capable of making any throw. He pretty much willed his team to victory in the second half. Basically, his team upset three powerhouses in the playoffs that year.
He isn't a typical "athlete/QB," but he is shifty enough to get out of the way of rushers. Around here, most people in the fan/football community think that he got "cliqued out" at Miami by the Dade/Broward faction. His auto accident didn't help his development at Miami, either. I don't consider this to be good news for Michigan at all. I fully expect Michigan to beat Purdue this year, but I don't expect it to be Marve's "fault." And I would be willing to bet that RR won't be underrating him before the game.
We shouldn't lose to purdue....ever...no matter who is lining up at quarterback.
