Martin and Molk invited to play in Senior Bowl

Submitted by Moleskyn on

Over at WN, Rothstein says that Martin and Molk have been invited to play in this year's Senior Bowl. Just another feather in the cap for a couple of great seniors, and it looks like they've got their priorities right:

"I know Dave's going so that'll be cool to go with a guy, a teammate," Martin said. "It's a big opportunity and first thing is first, the Sugar Bowl. After that, I'll dive right in."

I am confident they will represent Michigan with class.

undrafted free agent.

Senior bowl is a scrimmage for NFL scouts and coaches to get a feel for who can help their team and where they maight draft them at.

Players who hope to boost or solidify their draft status are the typical attendees.  The best players don't play 'cause all that can happen is that they will lose draft status or get hurt.

Don't get me wrong, I love the guy and hope for his success in whatever he chooses to do.

every time I think "Senior Bowl" i imagine two rosters of 75 year olds painting on eye black and squaring off against each other.

I would pay money to see that

But, what are the rules for coaches helping graduating players prep for the NFL?  It seems like a lot of people are pegging Martin to be a possible DT in a 4-3 or an end in a 3-4.  Either way, it looks like he'll probably have some adjustments to make technique-wise and scheme-wise.  As luck would have it coach Hoke (D-line coach) and coach Mattison (NFL defensive experience) are just the people I would want helping me prepare for the NFL.  Are they allowed to help Martin prepare/adjust?

It also seems like the seniors, espcially Martin, have gotten really close with coach Hoke.  I am sure they want his input in preparing.

Would love to see Molk getting drafted by the Colts.  Molk + Andrew Luck would be the 2nd generation Jeff Saturday + Peyton Manning.
