Martavious Odoms - Given time and space...(Senior love-fest part 523701)

Submitted by karpodiem on

what an awesome player. Given his frame, he earns every yard and plays like a guy twice his size. not afraid to put his shoulder down, but amazingly deadly in open space (sick double move he once again pulled out today)

but yes, it was a pleasure to watch him play at Michigan Stadium these last four years. Wish him and the rest of the Seniors a bright future ahead.

Very, very happy for him.  He had no catches in September or October but hauled in three TD passes in November.  He'll serve as a great exemple of a guy who stayed positive and kept working hard, and saw his time come.

He's actually been playing all season (although he had a cast on his arm the first month) but he never seemed to be the primary receiving option the first two months.  It seems like his emergence is a combination of him stepping it up in practice and becoming a bigger part of the offense and also Denard maturing and finding secondary targets.  On the TD, it looked like Odoms was not the primary read.

Yes, he has been playing all year but very sparingly early in the season.  The few snaps he got were almost all running plays as he was not a legitimate receiving option with the hand/arm injury.  Brian commented in the UFR that his presence was a run tip at one point.

I agree with the post above saying that he has been crucial to Denard's resurgence the last few games.  Tay was great last year in limited time as well before the injury and made that nice TD grab in the Gator Bowl.

I can't believe Tay Odoms is a senior.  Seems like he just got here.  I absolutely love his blocking.  I remember Denard's TD against Western, what, 2 years ago?  Sprung because Odoms bolted across the field at top speed and launched himself into a defender.  I wish every wide receiver (ours, anyways) had Odoms' attitude.

I adore Tay Odoms. He is my favorite guy on this year's team, for some damn reason. I felt that Seth/Misopogon summed it up very well in his "Those who Stayed" piece. I really hope he gets to ride out with a victory and an 11-2 senior year. Not just for him, but for all of the seniors. These guys have earned it, to say the least. Some times, the good guys win, hard work pays off, perseverence is rewarded, and those who stay become champions. This is one of those times.

at mgoblog, but I have to tell you mine from about 18 months ago.  I was on the field, people were talking about the #1 jersey, and I looked at Tay.  He smiled, one of his eyes gave a quick  gold sparkle, then he pointed at me and started laughing quietly.

I will always heart you, Thaddeus Odoms.

This guy is one of my favorite players from Michigan. Not seeing him play in the past two UM-OSU games has been a real bummer. I was beyond happy to see him get that great TD. Actually, I am glad he has gotten alot of attention in the past few games. He has been such an excellent player!

Tay and a bunch of other players subletted from my girlfriend a while back and I got to hang out with them quite a bit. Odoms is a stand up guy, incredibly polite and almost as good at Mario Kart 64 as he is at football. I hope he does well in the future.
