Mark Snyder (LB Coach Candidate) to be DC at S Florida
Per ESPN, Mark Snyder will be the DC at South Florida under Skip Holtz. RichRod had supposedly talked with him about the vacant LB coach spot at UM.

Well that sucks. Would have been a great hire. Have there been any other candidates that have shown interest?

Was only excited about his possible recruiting prowess in Ohio, of which we already recruit pretty well anyway.
Congrats to Snyder, we'll move on to someone better.
Didn't want a Buckeye on our staff anyway, and yes, I know that Bo was a Buckeye at one point too.

He was a great DC for OSU and would have been an amazing catch as a LB position coach. He would have been a possible in-house replacement if Gerg end up not working out in the long run.

he was only DC for OSU for one year, and it wasn't a great year defensively.
WOTS is that Tressel wanted to demote him before he got the job at Marshall.

what about the dude from Alabama, who left for Tennesse and then got screwed when Kiffin peaced to USC?

Derek Dooley is going to retain him

Scout interviewed RR after the game last night and RR said they are hiring a defensive coach. He did not say specifically a LB coach. If you want to read into that, it might mean Greg Robinson is going to handle the LB's and we will hire a defensive coach at another position who may help recruiting. Just a thought. The link is behind a paywall but here it is:

I'm impressed that they are actually spending the money it takes to move up on the food chain. I was surprised that they paid Holtz what he required and am more surprised that the assistant pool is big enough to hire a former HC as a DC.
Holtz worked the crowd at the basketball game on Saturday night. It went over well, but it was really difficult to suppress laughter when I was at a Big East game on Saturday with school in session and less than 4,000 people in the building listening to Holtz talk about how great the fan support is at USF.
Maybe he is seeing into the future.

Isn't USF a commuter school, where a low percentage of students live on campus? If so, building a quality fan base may not be very easy especially when the Stadium is an off-campus NFL stadium.

They do pretty well at football games, actually... likely because it's off campus and is pretty central to the rest of the Tampa area.
I think the poster was referring to the basketball game... and that's because USF is the only shitty basketball school in the conference.

DePaul and Rutgers want in on that conversation!
