Normally I can't stand hearing or watching Lou but this video segment is about Charlie Weis. Watch Mark May's facial reactions to the utter BS that Lou spits out. It's classic. I wonder if Lou's kids tell him to leave ESPN and go back to coaching where he can't do as much damage to the family name.
Mark May's reactions to Lou "the spitter" Holtz
That has to be the worst analytical duo ever! I utterly despise Mark May and just feel sorry for what sssssssweeet Lou does to himself.
Absolutely can't stand Mark May. The guy is a consistent Big Ten basher and rarely has anything good to say about anything having to do with the conference. He wants to bear Tim Teblow's children and constantly forgoes accurate sports analysis to support whatever bandwagon team is the flavor of the week.
Last year a buddy of mine and I were in Vegas (watching the Umich Utah game) and I asked him a drunken theoretical question, "if you was given a gun with only one bullet and walked into aroom where Lou Holtz and Mark May tied to chairs blind folded...who would you shoot?"
His priceless response, "I would shoot Mark May and pistol whip Lou Holtz"
That anecdote is Readers Digest quality.
The court thing with the judge's robe etc. is idiotic. I can't stand listening to Holtz. No doubt he was a very good coach but it is not good to have someone with such an intensely obvious bias toward one school as a national analyst.
Forget the record, how does ND feel about having a loud, rude self-serving egomaniac as the face of the university? It would be easier to take if he backed it up on the field.
Oh yeah, those ND exclusive exit interviews save the day.
I really hope they don't fire him!
This one answers itself:
"Forget the record, how does ND feel about having a loud, rude self-serving egomaniac as the face of the university?"

Are you talking about Charlie Weis, or Lou Holtz on ESPN?
do Charlie any favors by prediction ND would play for the National Championship this year. Perhaps the most asinine prediction ever made right beyond the other 3 years Lou had ND penciled in the National Championship game.
IIRC, Beano Cook also made the prediction of ND winning the NC this year. Maybe it's an old guy thing to pick ND.
the slobberfest known as Lou Holthhh, I'll take Mark May. There is nothing better than the old geezer eating crow b/c his beloved domers are getting drilled.
all those feathers in his mouth from all of the crow he has to eat. Learn something new everyday.
That was painful to watch. Lou is out of touch. I live in the South Bend area and believe me those students are not happy with Jabba the Weis. The players hate him, and hate the special treatment he gives to his "special" players.
skip holtz should start the paper work to lou in a home....
mark may looked like he wanted to put lou through a wall during that. and why did lou look like he was going to start crying???
He just can't produce tears like he used too....part age, part losing most of his fluids while speaking.
that the tear ducts drained into the mouth once you hit a certain age...
i honestly think that lou is getting some $$$$ from ND to beat the drum for them. i remember when he first joined espn he was still some what unbiased, but then all of sudden in the last 2 years he has become the biggest ND homer out there.
They should keep Lou Holtz doing nothing but Michigan State football and San Francisco Giants games.
And that just for the comedic gold of "Lincecum" and "Linthecum" being pronounced exactly the same.
"Did Navy sink Charlie Weis's ship?
Of course Lou Holtz is an idiot. The only thing responsible for sinking Weis's ship is obviously his weight. No vessel can withstand that!
I like Lou, and I always have. Yes, he is biased. If it were Bo up there, he would tell you Michigan will beat Wisconsin this weekend. How could you be one of the greatest coaches in the history of a program and talk badly about them, the players, or the coaches? I will take it a step further and say that this makes me wish that Lloyd was on TV just ONCE to say something supporting RR.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like Charlie and I think he should be canned. Is it Lou's fault that someone's paying him to express his opinion to the masses? Maybe it's just respect, but I don't like all of you throwing stones at one of the best coaches of our lifetime (I don't care who he coached for). Making fun of him for being old is pretty low, seeing that all of us will be there quicker than we would like.
OK there - feel free to lay into my point total.
great coaches leave almost every school that they coached at in some sort of trouble with the NCAA when they move on.
NC state put on probation because of things that went on while holtz was there. he left minnesota having to deal with the NCAA. and his beloved ND was put on probation while he was there because of players being given gifts between 1993 and 1998. and he wasn't done there, south carolina had deal with the NCAA after lou retired.
My problem isn't with Lou at all, it's with ESPN passing the incessant Domer homer as a college football analyst and putting this blatant bias on TV.
I really think that the networks need to break from the idea that a former coach or player can be a great analyst or play-by-play announcer and stop picking up everyone available and putting them on TV.
..but in Lou's defense, it was his job to find an agrument for that side as part of the segment. I would blame the producers of the segment for Lou's apparent Weis-kissing. It was his job to argue that side, and the ludicrous nature of his argument is more of a demonstration that there is no reasonable argument for that side than an indictment of Holtz.
But I still think Lou should leave before he loses any more brain cells.
Haven't you guys figured out that Lou Holtz is just comic relief? I mean, he's got some funny stuff, especially on the Dr. Lou segments.
Actually, when he's not talking about ND, he's not bad. He's not a total SEC/USC homer that Mark May/all of ESPN are, and tends to give the Big Ten some decent credit.
I can't stand Mark May either especially when he calls himself May Day. But I do remember before Lou joined the staff there was Trev Alberts and in my opinion Lou and Mark May are better than Trev Alberts. Trev was horrible. I rembmer one time on Gameday Final he was trying to say that Mike Nugent (the kicker for Ohio State) should be considered in the Heisman talk. While he was saying this on the other channel Nugent missed a kick that lost the game for OSU.
ESPN is pretty pathetic in all facets of their programming (minus Erin Andrews of course). I don't think I watch anything on ESPN besides the actual games played at this point. I can't even remember the last time I watched Sportscenter.
Mark May is a fucking prick. I can not stand him at all. Lou Holtz, yeah he has on his ND glasses, but he is a good hearted guy who i wouldn't mind sitting down and having lunch with just to hear his stories. I love his pep talks. I don't mind him. Never liked him as a coach but he is a fun loving guy that I can at least stand and get a good gaffaw out of. Mark May maybe makes him look better to me because Mark May is a dick.
I think lou holtz has a boner for charlie or something, because he defends him and promotes him every chance he gets, even if there's nothing left to defend or promote.
That was tough to watch.
