Mark Emmert concerned people are losing faith in NCAA

In an article which reads more like a piece from The Onion instead of an article with actual quotes in it, Mark Emmert is concerned the public is losing faith in the NCAA’s ability to govern itself. Points to the FBI probe. I tend to only invest in companies I know are under investigation by the FBI. Makes me feel more confident they are on the up and up. Link: http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-basketball/news/ncaa-mark-emmert-conce… One of a couple money quotes: The findings showed 79 percent of people polled believe big schools put money ahead of student-athletes, 69 percent considered those universities more of a problem than the solution and 51 percent said the NCAA is part of the problem. “I can’t think of anything 79% of Americans agree to, but they agree to that," Emmert said in response to the first finding, via USA Today. Emmert said these numbers create doubt around two key notions at the heart of the organization's mission, which made him ask the questions of what kind of business is the NCAA in and how do they govern it?

This isn't really a shock. It is the same in our government and at the corporate level of most big companies. They are all oblivious to the reality outside of their board rooms. It always seems to be the dumbest smart people who are running things. Yes, they know how to create profit and build their bank accounts, but they are so isolated from their ground level employees and customers who are actually affected by their decisions that they don't notice (or maybe don't care about) these type of issues until they have snowballed out of control.

When news of the FBI probe broke I would really like to have been at the NCAA headquarters to see how many people had the response of, “Holy shit, people are paying players to go to certain schools?!?! You have to be kidding me!!!”

I give him that. He is fully aware of what went on at LSU. He was the Chancellor. He hired the problem, authorized its inception, oversaw it and then, upon request was assigned to investigate it. We do bitch and bitch a lot about government, but thank whatever is out there running this whole thing that its football and basetball and not universal health care and other things that matter far far more than this. But he would ge good in the other arena as well.  He, too, has never met a venue he soon won't be running.

It’s fixed. ESPN needs to lose some of if not most of the control they have on the college football playoff. I’ll take flack for saying this but don’t be surprised if Michigan gets calls and help from officiating in the Wisconsin and Ohio state games this year. We’ve been on the other end most of the time but the powers that be want 2 SEC teams in the playoff and the same stuff that was used to keep Michigan out of the playoff last year will happen. The one team that really has the key to kill the B1G playoff hope is Michigan and that just may happen if somehow we were to win out.

I agree with him. I could see them doing it. I'm for surely incompetent when it comes to knowledge of many people and I'm okay with that. One thing I do know though is the obvious and I have common sense. Which is something I guarantee a dipshit in a clown costume like yourself doesn't have. You might be widely successful financially and born with a silver spoon in your mouth while getting a 4.0 because that's all you have ever had to do. After a comment like yours, you're just another schmuck in a box without a grasp on anything real!!!
