Mark Donnal Can Dunk A Basketball

Submitted by ypsituckyboy on

With only six regular season games left for our cagers and a B1G title on the line, I think there's one thing we'd all like to see - another thread on how good the basketball team might be in 2014/2015! Amirite?!?!

On second thought, how about a video of a guy who's probably going to be pretty good next year but who we don't even have to play this year because we're already pretty good.

dont see why donnal has to be a one way player. and even if he is, the offense people seem to most associate with beilein is the one at WVU w/ pittsnoggle opening up the paint with all those threes. walton's going to have more space than he knows what to do with, especially if stauskus comes back.

i love this year's team, and i think we have a good run in us. but next year's offense is going to be on a different level, just with the insert of donnal and walton having complete control.

Ehh Morgan and Horford are both under 6'10'' and I'd say Donnal is more mobile than both and Doyle is similar... Horford is a solid shotclocker and Morgan is a solid on-ball defender but it's not like that can't be replicated. I think we should wait until they play some games first before we call them one-way players...

I do know that our offense should be even more efficient and filthy with their skillsets coming into the mix.

Sure, that's fair. What I'm saying is I'd love to have our 5 be a super athletic rebounder/shotblocker type. We know for sure Doyle and Donnal aren't going to fill that role.

It isn;t Beilein's style, which I respect. But our offense is a machine even with offensively limited guys like Morgan and Horford, and the defense has always been our issue. I'd love to have a real rim protector.

Won't happen, so I'm just hoping the new guys are at least competent on that end. Lord knows most of our guards and wings aren't.

He's working on his game. Now if they would only put the chicken wire back up around the court, he would be golden. /s

I am excited to see how his game translates in JB's sytem. I would imagine, quite nicely.

I'm excited to see him in action next season. A year behind McGary would serve him very well. Chatman can play behind Stauskas or GR3.

About next year and the future is fun and all, but we really have no idea who will be back, how good Donnal/incoming freshman will be, etc.

We're in 1st place in the conference with 6 games to go, maybe we should all enjoy this current team and worry about next year when this season is over.

only Nik is gone.  With Robinson and McGary falling off the NBA draft charts, they may both be back.  Next year could be a real powerhouse if all are healthy.  Even better than this year,

It seems to be commonly accepted Coach Bs teams can't play D. It's possible but, even with all his years of coaching, I'd say the jury is still out. When judging this you have to consider that almost all his career he has coached up inferior talent. Athleticism is a very big part of defense, not all obviously, but a big part. Coach has only recently had top quality talent and we seem to ignore howw crazy young that talent has been. Senior Morgan is a hell of a defender considering his physical attributes, Junior Horford is a hell of a defender considering his physical attributes. The rest of the team is freshman and sophomores.

We've already seen Walton improve, Levert, Stauskas, GRIII, McGary. I'd say judging by what we've seen it's safe to assume if everyone were to stay we're a good defensive team next year. If only Stauskas goes pro we're a good defensive team next year. It's no coincidence that's when our most talented class hits 3rd year in the program.

We don't play Donnel because we don't need donnel right now.. Horford and Morgan would take all the minutes.. RS a player, especially a big to get strength up is a nice luxury.

A friend of mine is the assistant principal at Donnal's high school. He stated that Mark is a decent athlete, has good ball skills and decent shooting (for a big man), and good post moves. The knock on Donnal is that he is very soft. He is often taken out of the game by a player of similar size (especially when he played the inner city schools). Donnal does not like contact and likes to shy away from it. I hope he goes through the same off season program as Caris and Nick did, and comes in next year as Harford ' s #2 and takes the starting role as center the year after.
