He killed it today. Proud you're a Michigan Man, Marcus.

Enjoyed him a lot.  Since he is from Michigan he can say critical things without people getting offended.  He was honest and fair.  Hope he does a lot of our games.  Think he could be a very good analyst long term too i.e. go to a major network if he gets a knowledge of other teams anywhere near to ours.

Nice performance. Not sure if that's his first time, but he did a great job. Called it like he saw it and was objective in doing so. Hope to see more of him going forward.

I was about to make this thread.

He did an AMAZING job, can't upvote this enough. BTN better be careful because ESPN will scoop him up in a heartbeat. He's already the best BTN has and better than anything on ESPN2.

And I say this with such excitement because I thought he was AWFUL when he first started...not just "learning" but I thought he was really, really bad.

Just as bad as I thought he was when get began, I thought he was that great today. From beginning to end I thought he nailed it. Definitely the best on BTN.

Awesome job!

Because he did a great job pointing out some of the stuff that Michigan fans would know. But what I loved was just him sharing his knowledge of the game and calling out matchups and coverages before they happen. That's what Gruden does.

If you like MGoBlog...you like to talk about learn about football.

I felt like Ray was pointing things out to me that I wasn't seeing right away. Zero coverage, they're in man up top, etc. He was tipping blitzes, he called Mattison out for not disgusing well enough (which we've been saying for 2 years). He called the scissors route to Butt. He was especially technical in the DB area for both teams.

It was wonderful to listen to. He was funny enough at times, he was serious at the right time...he wasn't overbearing or trying to make a name or brand for himself. He was just talking football.

I'll eat that up any day of the week. Great job.

Ware...and the Mike Patrick/Ed Cunningham combo.

He's literally better than at least 50% of ESPN right now and better than all of BTN.

IMO, he could do just fine with a 3:30 ESPN game or replacing the buffoons they have at 12pm on ESPN or just about all day on ESPN2.

If I'm BTN, I let him do these Michigan games and local stuff this year and put him as a primetime announcer for ALL BTN games next year. And get him a better play-by-play guy.

He was fairly balanced throughout the game, and he did not hesitate to point out Miami's good plays. Marcus is an immeasurable upgrade over Collins' normal partner, Derrick Rackley.

It was great when they thought their mica weren't hot and the pbp guy said two dudes names, then said they both suck. This was before the game, I lost it cracking up.

Ray was great, but the bit about 450 yards on offense tending to be a good thing was...kind of obvious.

But I like his delivery, I like his knowledge, he's going to be very good.

It was probably the best part of the game for me.  It brought back memories of those tough UM teams.  He wasn't blatantly homerish.   He showed great knowledge of the game from all aspects.  He was on top of the action while providing filler as needed.  He was critical without it being token negativity.  Overall, great great start for him.  Really proud of him. :)

The bit with Braylon was great too.  I always thought Braylon had one of those personas made for TV or maybe its just "diva-ish" WRs that all seem that way.  I hope he gets a shot in TV too.

The biggest takeaway for me was that he wanted to get into media and that thinking about it, he definitely has an appealing voice for that type of work. I know his name recognition comes with some negative connotation as well, but he's pretty well known in the football world. Hope he can make a go of it.

The students who tried starting the wave with six minutes remaining in the third quarter need to get a clue. Those people who had tickets and let them go to waste need to get a clue as well

And Marcus Ray is related to this issue in what way?  Oh, yeah...as BTN analyst, he should've been on top of this faux pas and publicly lashed those foolish students.

[Seriously, though.  This is at least the 3rd thread I've seen this comment.   Someone's a little miffed about the wave.]

Marcus did quite well. Explained a lot, but knew when to just let his PBP guy talk. Not too homerish, but I couldn't help notice his subtle maize & blue outfit in the booth. Blue jacket, blue dress shirt, and maize tie & pocket square.
