So is there anyone who can't win money or has 0 affiliation with the Blue Devils who is actually rooting for Duke over Butler?
well that's just, like, your opinion, man
but I just bet $250 on Duke (-7.5).
How'd that turn out? womp womp.
Let's Go Butler!!!! Win me some MONNAYYYYYYYY!!!!
Lets go Butler! Win me a T-shirt...
following hip hop once I turned about 18, but is this what Puff Daddy's career has resorted to?
bc if so that's the greatest shit ever.
I think I've finally found a team that can out clutch and grab MSU and Wisconsin.
You're killing me.
at the same time since the tournament expanded!
I wouldn't. Butler has won 25 in a row, and was ranked 8th in polls. There were greater upsets in the tourny this year, maybe not in terms of big upset in this big of a game, but in terms of worse teams beating good teams. The media wants to paint Butler as David, but Butler was massively under seeded.
The Bulldogs are hanging. I think that if Butler can defend hard until the end they have the guys to pull it out. Guys like Nored, Vanzant, and Veasley all seem like good defenders, and they wear you out and make you earn your points. That's crucial against a team like Duke because they don't have a ton of scorers.
The teams that have lost to Duke all really failed to defend second chance shots. If Butler can stick to their gameplan, and defend they have a heck of shot to win this game IMO.
>70 Duke wins
<62 Butler wins
In the middle *shrugs*
I just really want Duke to lose, being from Canada it seems like everyone is jumping on the Duke bandwagon. I hate Duke and all their players, except for the Plumlee's.
I can't wait for IM2 to come out. Gonna be awesome!
Butler has to start making shots or this is gonna get out of hand fast.
Butler is here to stay, they ain't going to just fall over, that's why they made it this far.
and so they have. good deal.
..or would this game be more entertaining if Ed Hightower were refereeing???
on a sidenote they did manage to find Ted Valentine, Ed Hightower's near equal in terms of awful officiating.
I saw Valentine (who I think has a personal vendetta against the Wolverines) and thought Hightower would make a great addition to this officiating crew.
It is a shame that Zoubek has to throw the ball out of the paint when he is under the basket. He should just dominate down there. You are 7'1", turn and jump just a little and dunk it.
Plus with Zoubek hedging like he is I think Duke will get burned by that sooner or later.
Is it just me, or is Butler getting raped on shot attempts and getting no calls at all?
But that's something else that annoys me about Duke and programs like them, in general. Jealousy. They get all the calls, all the benefit from the media, promotion from the NCAA and their conference...all the breaks.
Contrast that with Michigan Football, as storied as any college program- media tries to tear it down, everyone jumps against it (like when it has a chance for a rematch vs. OSU) and it isn't promoted for it's greatness, and it's own conference seems out to stick it to them with calls or anything else to keep them down (outside of what people think in Happy Valley, at least) rather than help prop up their name teams.
I've never gotten that.
Very well played half thus far. I'd look to Hayward and Mack to take control in the second half. At this point it looks like two very good, very close teams.
If Butler can hang on in the first few minutes of the second half, they can win this game.
Da'sean Butler: "Man, that moment on the floor was super awkward."
Ok, so he may not have actually said that.
It was awkward for sure.
At first it was nice/touching.
Then he got closer and closer.
Then he was caressing his face while having his lips inches from Da'Sean's
At first it was nice... then it was just fucking awkward.
What the fuck are you talking about?
Butler is hacking with no calls being made on them.
How many wide open 3s has he bricked?
4. Veasley's bricked 4.
He's 0-3 two of them were practically in. The first one hung on the rim and fell off, the last one was in and out. Butler again coming out hard and playing tough the second half, should be a great game.
he's 0-4 from 3. 1-8 for the game. competing with Matty Howard for LVP of Butler.
EDIT: Now 0-5 from 3, 1-9 total. Someone get him out!
That was a Grade-A Greg Paulus flop by Jon Scheyer. If you're going to draw the charge, STAND UP TALL and TAKE IT LIKE A MAN.
That charge call was total fucking bullshit.
is getting the NBA superstar treatment in this game
He has been hacking up a storm and not getting called
They made the right call. Went after the ball, got tied up.
A flagrant personal foul (or intentional foul) involves excessive or severe contact during a live ball.
A flagrant technical foul involves unsportsmanlike conduct that is extreme in nature, or excessive or severe contact during a dead ball. Fighting is also considered a flagrant technical foul.
As he said he was going for the ball, no that's NOT a flagrant.
That was the right call. It was incidental that Heyward took that tumble. Was not intentional by Thomas.
However, I CANNOT STAND CLARK KELLOGG. He is absolutely DREADFUL.
Howard's 'stache is probably worse than Adam Morrison's was...and that's saying something
Funny fact, he is cousins with Asher Roth, and Roth was tweeting earlier saying he loved the 'stache.
the creepy flesh colored 'stache.
Good to see Butler battling.
No more "dance" references, please.
Maybe Clark Kellogg will mention Duke's "Recipe for Success" again? Maybe?
And Nantz with an obviously-scripted line about Hoosiers.
Maybe Clark Kellogg will unzip Coach K and the rest of Duke's pants and do a certain usually something reserved for the ladies. My intense hatred of Duke is showing up with butterflys in my stomach usually reserved for Saturday's during the fall, or Sunday's (watching the Bills), etc...
The multiple IP address trolls are back out tonight (one in this thread). The ones that have been hammering aamichfan, GeaxBlu and me, and probably others. If I'm going to get neg-banged for nothing, I'm going to make them work for it, rather than post. Sucking the fun out of the board. Maybe see you when CRex updates. Night.
They'll hear you!
I don't think that you can do that against a 1 seed.
I feel like I'm watching us out there. Nice open shots that don't go in...
Too bad, I feel like Butler has outplayed them tonight, but they don't have the points to show for it. Plagued them early and seems to be plaguing them now.
Edit: And in the time it took me to post this, I switch the input of my monitor back to the game and see they've come back...
Hey, who said goodnight, Butler is battling. And this game has to be an instant classic.
BTW Boujue nice call on score and closeness prediction.
to 60 I'll feel like a God.
Please let Butler win this thing!
Drago impression the way he is knocking down americans
Well, what do you expect from man who just killed his childhood idol? Sure, he sounds crass. But how would you sound if you just killed your hero, you don't speak any English, and suddenly the country whose values you espouse and secretly dream of bringing to your country hates you?
Drago did not kill Apollo Creed. Apollo Creed killed apollo creed, with assists from Rocky Balboa and an incompetent referee.
The fact of the matter is that Creed killed himself when he manipulated his way into fighting Drago. He had no business getting in the ring with anyone, for that matter. He was a god damned Has Been, just like straight-shooting Russian antagonist Nicoli Koloff said he was. Honestly, it could be argued that Creed was washed up before his first fight with Rocky. He eked out a controversial spit-decision victory against a struggling club fighter who only had six weeks to train for the fight. Then, a year later, he was knocked out by the same club fighter, who was boxing right-handed for the first time, nursing a surgically repaired eye, and had virtually no strategy (Run through him? Run over him? Thanks, Mick).
What business does a man like that have getting into a ring with someone who can punch at 2150 pounds per square inch? Of course Drago punched a hole through Creed's head -- it's not his fault -- with 2150 psi, he could punch a hole through God.
Firstly I am so extraordinarily relieved that I am not the only that thinks they need to buy some Clark Kellogg some knee-pads. Secondly Singler has a nice jump shot
I can't believe that didn't go in
that was a tough shot.
That was a LETHAL pick... I'm almost positive that that was NOT legal.
Howard absolutely wrecked Singler. That was awesome.
They didn't show a good angle, but that looked like a straight up, elbows extended to the face cheap shot.
BOTH those shots miss??
We're in for another year of Coach K fellatio.
just had horrible flashbacks
Hellavu good game by Butler
Anyone else catch that guy with his hand down his pants?
Fantastic game. Well played by both teams. I like how the refs let them play... a couple slightly questionable calls, but nothing too egregious. Great way to end the tourney.
Hard fought battle all around.
Once again Duke is:
We're familiar with dong punches around here. We feel your pain. Great, great game. Coach K aged a few years in 3.6 seconds.
is really feeling bad for Butler. So close, so many wide open shots that didn't go. Two near misses that cost them the game. Disney neglected to mention the part where Cinderella got gunned down by a renegade peasant...
Damn you Butler... I guess I don't care who won, but once again it would have been nice to see the little guys win.
Those shirts are absolutely awful. The fake net around the neck makes me cringe.
Ugliest championship hat/t-shirt combo ever. Why am I not surprised they were designed by Nike?
Tough, tough lose. I am taking it hard, and I am not connected to either school directly. My cousin goes to Duke, but the doucheyness of the program heavily outweighs that. Heartbreaking game, but a great one.
The game - amazing. One Shining Moment - terrible
Duke students still have classes today. Does that qualify as a dong punch?
