Now that's its Sunday, and it was a separate purchase, I'd say it will fall off more than if it were Saturday, since we do have class on Friday. Not to mention it was a separate purchase, so I think the bleachers and some of 130 are the only sections with students based on what tickets I've seen for sale.

I'm pissed cause now I won't be there (backpacking trip woooo) but I guess I can sell my ticket for like $200 now if I wanted...

So frustrating that both msu and indiana are the two weekends of spring break.  Also the msu game wasn't even part of the student season ticket package, you had to purchase it seperately which just seems like a terrible idea and a kinda douche move by the athletic department.

What's worse: Making the game a separate purchase (which you are still able to make at student price) or forcing you to buy tickets for games that you will not be present on campus for?

As long as you had first refusal to purchase the ticket, I would say that this is the best way to do it.

Well, a lot of students that I know would rather have it as part of the regular package. Too much of a hassle to buy tickets by a deadline that wasn't very clearly established and way too far in advance for people who are figuring out their spring break plans after said deadline. In addition a lot of students probably wouldn't be able to tell a difference in terms of paying a lump sum for season tickets...they don't think to dispute individual ticket prices in other words. They're just down to pay the amount.

Sounds like a lot of excuses.

It's not difficult to have the patience to read an entire email. I always bought the extra tickets, whether I knew my SB plans or not. You can always sell them if you decide getting drunk in Cancun is more important that MSU.  Maybe if you're a freshmen it is more important. If you're a senior and it's your last chance in the student section, it probably is more important to attend the game.

Either way, the athletic department gave you the choice. If you were to inept to figure out how to make that choice, perhaps it is time to grow up and make more educated decisions with your money.

Easy there, no need for personal attacks or anything...I have my tickets after all. Just telling you information of which I was aware.

But the opporunity to buy them was ONLY during a window that was a week-ish long during December or something like that. You couldn't buy them when you ordered season tickets, they just one day said "MSU tickets available for purchase!!!" So many students didn't realize this because if you weren't on the right mailing lists, you never found out.

Bull. If you bought season tickets, you were on the mailing list.

Plus, I'm sure the Maize Rage gave tons of reminders.

The real question is: if you weren't paying attention to basketball because it's December, did you forget/delete the email before reading it.

If you don't have the ability to figure this out, I question your future success in life.

Hey, I got my ticket alright. Just speculating on why others are upset/why there are three thousand people posting in the ticket exchange groups "I NEED AN MSU TICKET"

/bandwagon fans

The mailing lists are a little weird, I found out from the Maize Rage list because I'm on it, but that's a separate list from the basketball season ticket list that you had to sign up for separately. IIRC the emails they sent out to students was something like "Break tickets available for x/y/z over winter break....." then later ".... Also, tickets for MSU on March 2/3 are available." So I bet some people didn't read the email all the way through, to which yes, you should question their future success in life, just a little bit.

EDIT: Also, I was trying to pick up extra tickets for friends over break. I had over 20 people try to sell me tickets to those winter break games, when they didn't have the tickets because they thought they were included in the season ticket package. Yes, people are that dumb.

Maize Rage gave reminders on twitter sure. But the mailing list thing is totally accurate. I'm a season ticket holder and didn't get a single email or letter. Thankfully I got mine in time when I figured out the caveats.

I bought tickets for this game months ago, hoping it would be late Saturday or early Sunday. 4 PM on Sunday is the worst - I am driving back to Pittsburgh after the game. They better win to make the drive enjoyable.
