I hope he gets the help he needs and gets things figured out, but man this guy had bust with a side problem baggage written all over him since he was a freshman at A&M.

Interesting that the article references that Manziel "entered treatment," but does not specify treatment for what.  Many will conclude that it's likely for alcohol abuse/dependence, but perhaps not.

He'd probably do the same thing now that he is older.  Most athletes don't realize that change is necessary until after the fact.  Now I'm pulling for Manziel to come out the other side.

Really hope he gets himself straightened out and comes out clean on the other side. If he volunteered to go, then that's great for him. Takes a lot to voluntarily admit you've got a problem.

While I'm not really that confident that his NFL career works out one way or another (too small, what made him special in college by scrambling around sandbox-style trying to make plays will get him killed in the NFL), he's certainly got a lot of talent, and I'm glad to see he's taking steps to ensure that it doesn't go to waste.

Good luck, Manziel.

Personally, I think Manziel is kind of a tool and I hope somebody more deserving becomes the starting quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. For his family's sake, I hope he gets his problems fixed. But as for overall success, there are people who are more deserving.

This is going to sound harsh, but screw his family.    They tried to raising Johnny with the mindset, Money will solve everything.

Hey Johnny if you don't drink your senior year of high school, we will buy you a new SUV.

That's a true story.

His mom and Dad are loud and obnoxious.

He's getting what he deserves.

There is a story about a man who walks 21 miles as PART of his commute to work on this same board. That man has been given nothing but does what he needs to do. Why the hell should I pity someone who has been given everything and who has failed to take advantage of his opportunities? Hell, he helped derail other players on the Browns by his in-season party. He isn't worth pity.

The first step is sincerely realizing there's a problem.  Let's hope he's sincere.

I recall when Manziel was entering the draft, and some were comparing him to Russell Wilson because of height and size.  The big difference between the two is what's between the ears.  Wilson is a smart*, hard-working young man; Manziel less so.

* Play to end the game yesterday notwithstanding.

Who could have foreseen that a kid who was a well-recognized jerk in college would continue to be an idiot once he's handed millions of dollars?
