UM Indy

The coach has to be in charge. I get that and I totally support Coach B. Obviously in his judgment whatever happened warranted Manny's suspension. I just worry that high school players, especially those in Detroit, might be turned off by this ongoing tension between Manny and Coach B. It could cost us in recruiting, but I guess I'm willing to sacrifice the type of players that wouldn't want to come to UM because of this for maintaining control of the team. Or maybe that's reading too much into things.

I thought the same thing when I heard about it. "Gee, this should do wonders with prima donna players with talent (particularly also from Detroit) who see the star player continually getting benched and suspended". Not only not on the same page, but it's going to make it look more like players like Manny don't fit in his system. And yes, you have to maintain control of the team...but if you can't have a rapport with your best players (like big time programs who recruit talented kids all over the place do), you're not going to get very good players, and you're not going to be a very good team.

It will be interesting to see if Grady gets some PT. A little OT, Belien said the other day that Michigan could not play a game in the 80's against UCONN and win, but would be able to do so in a couple of years. At this point I am having trouble visualizing an up tempo team, but glad to hear it is on the way.

Is he "on the team" right now? Could we actually see him play? Is he even traveling with the team? Just curious Since the news was just recently broken about him playing Basketball again. I know the same thing happened with Denard we hear about it then the next week he was running, was just curious if Grady could play at this time.

I too hope this was a relatively minor incident. But my buddy who is a student manager for bball says that he 'hopes manny never plays again' - not exactly an indicator that this was minor.
